摘要： A force transfer system includes a body and an article. The article includes a first portion forming a first lateral axis and a second portion forming a second lateral axis, the axes being offset. An intermediate member is disposed between the first portion and the second portion, and holds the second portion to the first portion. A stimulus received by the first portion causes a temporary alteration of the intermediate member from an initial condition, the alteration of the intermediate member thereby causing a change in a characteristic of the second portion. The intermediate member subsequently returns to the initial condition, thereby causing a change in a characteristic of the first portion, which is influenced by the change in the characteristic of the second portion. The change in the characteristic of the first and second portions prevents at least a portion of the stimulus from reaching the body.

摘要： A method for distracting an individual from a treatment event comprises providing a distraction tool; positioning the distraction tool at a contact location on an individual, the contact location being substantially adjacent a location of a treatment event; activating an oscillation device to induce vibrations in the distraction tool; and subsequently initiating the treatment event at the treatment event location. The distraction tool comprises a stimulation apparatus comprising a housing and a plurality of projections extending from the housing. The oscillation device is in communication with the distraction tool to induce vibrations specifically in the stimulation apparatus. Activating the oscillation device to induce vibrations causes the plurality of projections to oscillate against the individual at the contact location, thereby shifting attention from the treatment event to the vibrations, wherein the shift in attention causes the individual to discount pain caused by the treatment event.

摘要： A projection system includes a projection apparatus embodied in a housing secured to a user. The projection apparatus has a processor in data communication with a networking device, at least one input/output device, and computer memory. The computer memory includes a program with machine readable instructions that, when effected by processor, perform the following steps: (a) determine an edge of a surface to be measured; (b) project an initial image onto the surface, the initial image being based on a predetermined set of conditions; (c) determine a substantially perpendicular distance D1 between the projection apparatus and the surface; (d) determine a distance D2 between the projection apparatus and the edge of the surface; (e) calibrate the initial image based on the distances D1 and D2 determined in steps (c) and (d); and (f) project an updated image onto the surface.
