    • A seatbelt device comprising a seatbelt, a spool for retracting the seatbelt, and a motor for rotating and driving the spool. The seatbelt device further includes urging means for urging the seat belt in a retracting direction, first retracting means for starting retracting of the seatbelt by the urging means, and second retracting means for starting the retracting of the seatbelt by the motor. The second retracting means starts the retracting of the seatbelt if, after the retracting of the seatbelt by the first retracting means is started, a retracting speed thereof is at a predetermined value or less and the retracting of the seatbelt has not been stopped.

    • A seat belt retractor includes a seat belt winding device for winding up a seat belt by actuation of a motor and a control unit that repeats a process of stopping the actuation of the motor on an overload of the motor and restarting actuation of the motor after lapse of a predetermined time period. The control unit includes a detection module for detecting an occupant getting on or off a vehicle and a determination module that, using criteria, determines whether or not actuation of the motor is to be restarted. The criteria when the occupant enters the vehicle is different from when the occupant exits the vehicle. The criteria are provided so that the determination module is more likely to determine that the actuation of the motor is not to be restarted when the occupant enters the vehicle as compared to when the occupant exits the vehicle.

    • The seat belt retractor is provided that comprises an electric motor; a spool operatively associated with the electric motor for winding and unwinding a seat belt for occupant restraint; and a controller. The controller can be configured to control a drive of the electric motor based on a seat belt storage starting condition defined by information about a state of the seat belt relative to a vehicle occupant and information about a state of a vehicle door corresponding to the seat belt. The controller can be configured to control the drive of the electric motor to rotate the spool to wind up the seat belt when the seat belt storage starting condition is satisfied and to temporarily stop the rotation of the spool for a time period when a seat belt load acting on the seat belt exceeds a predetermined amount. The time period can be set according to a satisfaction pattern of the seat belt storage starting condition.

    • A seatbelt control apparatus includes seatbelt control means that controls a motor for retracting a seatbelt; and motor current detecting means that detects a current of the motor. The seatbelt control apparatus further includes jamming determination means, indicator detecting means, and threshold value setting means. The jamming determination means determines whether or not the seatbelt is jammed during take-up operation on the basis of whether or not the motor current detected by the motor current detecting means exceeds a threshold value for jamming determination. The indicator detecting means detects an indicator of a current versus load characteristic of the motor. The threshold value setting means sets the threshold value for jamming determination on the basis of the indicator detected by the indicator detecting means.
