摘要： A thermosetting composition comprising a co-reactable solid, particulate mixture of (a) beta-hydroxyalkylamide crosslinking agent, e.g., bis(N,N-di-2-hydroxyethyl)adipamide, and (b) polycarboxylic acid functional polymer, is described. The polycarboxylic acid functional polymer is prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization and has well defined polymer chain architecture and polydispersity index of less than 2.5. The thermosetting compositions of the present invention have utility as powder coatings compositions.

摘要： A thermosetting composition useful as a powder coating comprises a co-reactable solid, particulate mixture of (a) an epoxy functional polymer containing at least one of the polymer chain structures -[(M)p-(G)q]x- or -[(G)q-(M)p]x- wherein M is an oxirane-free residue of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer, G is a glycidyl-functional ethylenically unsaturated monomer, p and q each independently has a value of 0 to typically less than 100, and x has a value of at least 1 to typically less than 100, the total value of p, q and x selected such that said epoxy functional polymer has a number average molecular weight of at least 250, and (b) a co-reactant having functional groups reactive with the epoxy groups of (a), e.g., dodecanedioic acid. The epoxy functional polymer is prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization and a polydispersity index of less than 2.5.

摘要： Thermosetting coating compositions, e.g., powder coating compositions, are provided and comprise: (a) a first reactant having functional groups, e.g., an epoxide functional (meth)acrylic polymer; (b) a second reactant having functional groups that are co-reactive with the functional groups of the first reactant, e.g., a carboxylic acid functional crosslinking agent; and (c) a polymeric flow control agent. The flow control agent is a block copolymer prepared by controlled radical polymerization and comprises: (i) a first block containing residues of at least one first ethylenically unsaturated radically polymerizable monomer that is free of hydroxy functionality; and (ii) a second block containing residues of at least one second ethylenically unsaturated radically polymerizable monomer that is free of hydroxy functionality. The second monomer of the flow control agent has a calculated Tg of at least 20° C. greater than that of the first monomer. The first and second blocks of the flow control agent may each independently contain a minor amount of hydroxy functional monomer residues.

摘要： Curable coating compositions comprising either a liquid or particulate curable film-forming resinous material, a flow control agent which is a copolymer and optionally a carrier for the liquid resinous material. The copolymer is from at least one non-amino, non-hydroxyl and non-acid functional alkyl acrylate or methacrylate containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms in the alkyl group, and functional monomer of either (i) amino functional acrylates and methacrylates in an effective amount to give the copolymer an amine value in the range from 2 to 70, or (ii) acid functional acrylate and methacrylate in an effective amount to give the copolymer an acid value in the range of from 10 to 30. Additionally, with either functional monomer (i) or (ii) another functional comonomer (iii) can be present in the copolymer which is hydroxyalkyl acrylate and/or hydroxyalkyl methacrylate and/or caprolactone polyol monomer. Comonomer (iii) can be present in the copolymer in an effective amount to give the copolymer a hydroxyl number is in the range of about 0 to 100.
