    • Apparatus for locating and removing foreign metal objects in the supply system of a plastic molding machine and the like wherein particulate plastic material is transported from a supply source at high velocity by way of a tubing system, consisting of a detector unit for monitoring the flow of the material through the tubing and a remote unit for momentarily diverting the flow when the presence of metal is detected. The diverter unit is a solenoid actuated flapper valve in the tubing system and the detector unit consists of a dual transmitter and receiver coil arrangement surrounding a part of the tubing, energized from a radio frequency energy source and arranged to develop an output signal when a transported metal object affects the normal balanced condition. Solid state components are employed throughout radio frequency oscillator, amplifier, differential detector and relay driver circuits and a balance coil and tuning slug are employed for critical adjustment of the signal balance and sensitivity in the sensing area.

    • This invention relates to a clip or fastening device for assembly with a channel shaped structural member adapted to be self clamping adjacent one side wall of the channel member for supporting a structural component. The clip includes a body portion which projects from the side wall of the channel having one end thereof provided with prongs which engage beneath the inturned flange on the side wall and an extension which projects toward the base of the channel and terminates in prongs for engaging the same. The clip is resiliently held in position in the channel member between the spaced set of prongs. A suitable attaching member formed either integrally with the body portion or separate therefrom is adapted to receive the edge portion of the wall of the component and secure it to the clip.

    • A railway crossing signalling system using coded digital signals impressed on the tracks for actuation of a crossing relay, the presence of a train at the crossing location causing shunting of the signals and an indication from the relay which operates in a fail-safe configuration. In each signal circuit first and second tone oscillators provide carrier signals which are modulated in a specific digital pattern and applied to the tracks. A tone sensitive receiver separately detects the carrier signals and provides pulse train outputs which are decoded in a binary counter and coincidence gate circuit for ascertainment that the correct digital code pattern has been received. Signals are developed for energization of an oscillator, the output of the latter being amplified for direct actuation of the crossing relay. More than one signal circuit can be employed on common tracks for separate or overlapping signal control by the selection of different pairs of operating frequencies, readily accommodated by plug-in filter substitution.
