    • Provided are a human interface device and a wireless communication method thereof. The wireless communication method of the human interface includes the steps of: setting up an occupancy channel of the host digital terminal and the wireless input unit by communicating data for setting up the occupancy channel through the emergency channel; transmitting, at the wireless input unit, operation data through the occupancy channel, and receiving, at the host digital terminal, the operation data; and when the operation data is not generated until a predetermined time lapses, enabling the wireless input unit and the host digital terminal to operate in an operation standby state, and confirming whether there is interference on the occupancy channel. Accordingly, efficiency of a frequency band is increased, and cost and size of the product can be reduced. Further, when interference on the occupancy channel is detected, a new occupancy channel can be set up so that reliability and efficiency of the wireless communication can be increased.

    • An optical pointing device and a control method thereof are provided. The optical pointing device includes: an illumination unit for illuminating light on a working surface, and generating light in a predetermined code in response to a code signal; a control unit for detecting an image on the working surface to calculate a movement value, outputting movement information in response to an input signal inputted from the outside and the calculated movement value, intermittently outputting a code generation signal, and turning off the illumination unit when the optical pointing device is separated from the working surface in response to a determination signal; and a determination unit for outputting the code signal in response to the code generation signal, detecting light in the predetermined code to thus determine whether or not the optical pointing device is separated from the working surface, and outputting the determination signal depending on the determination result. Therefore, a glaring phenomenon generated when the optical pointing device is turned upside down can be prevented, and unnecessary power consumption can also be prevented.

    • An image sensor, an optical pointing device and a motion calculating method of the optical pointing device are disclosed. The optical pointing device includes an image sensor for obtaining and providing a surface image corresponding to a motion searching range; and an image processor for determining a direction and a length of an X axis and a Y axis of the motion searching range and a reference area to continuously obtain the surface image corresponding to the direction and length of the X axis and Y axis, obtaining a reference frame and a current frame using the continuously obtained surface image, setting a certain area of the reference frame corresponding to the direction and length of the X axis and Y axis of the reference area as the reference area, and calculating a correlation between the reference area and the sample frame, to thereby calculate motion. The image sensor can obtain the larger surface image in the X axis direction. Thus, even though the optical pointing device collects the image at a low sampling rate, there is an effect in that larger motion of the optical pointing device for the X axis direction can be calculated. This helps reduce the operating speed of the semiconductor to thereby reduce power consumption.

    • An optical fiber connector and cable having a transducer and a receiver for optical transmission is provided. The optical fiber connector includes an optical fiber cable, and first and second connectors. The first connector has a transducer for controlling data transmission, and is connected to one end of the optical fiber cable. The second connector has a receiver for controlling data reception, and is connected to the other end of the optical fiber cable. The first and second connectors are inserted into coaxial cable connectors which are respectively connected to an external transmission interface unit and an external reception interface unit. According to the connector and cable, a transducer and a receiver which are used for optical fiber cable transmission are installed in a connector of an optical fiber cable. Therefore, the connector and optical cable are compatible with digital data transmission systems which exclusively use a coaxial cable. Further, an interface system between a computer and multiple peripheral apparatus uses an optical fiber cable rather than a coaxial cable as a transmission cable, so that the data transmission speed and the performance can be improved.

    • Disclosed is a method for controlling a light source and optical input device using the same. The light source controlling method includes setting a shutter ON time of an image sensor using a statistical value of an image obtained through the image sensor, and setting a light source ON time in accordance with the shutter ON time and turning on/off the light source and the shutter in response to the set light source ON time and the set shutter ON time.Thus, undesired consumption of electric power of the light source is prevented to increase energy efficiency by actively setting an ON/OFF period of the light source consuming the maximum electric current in the optical input device according to a shutter ON/OFF period. Further, availability of the light source and its electric current is enhanced by controlling the light source for the shutter OFF period and by allowing the light source to be used as a source for the data transmission.
