    • In dispensing apparatus for operating double cartridges with holding flange, a front-face retaining guide with slide-in opening on one side for the holding flange is provided. The problem arises of ensuring effective anchoring between apparatus and cartridge in order to prevent deformations of the holding flange or of the entire cartridge when, for dispensing the cartridge content, the two dispensing plungers of the apparatus are moved out of the apparatus front and push delivery pistons forward which are inserted into the cartridge cylinders. For this purpose, the retaining guide is continuous on both sides of a straight line which connects the centers of both plungers. The slide-in opening extends transversely to the mentioned straight line. Due to this arrangement, the holding flange is rigidly held in the retaining guide, i.e. each of the cartridge cylinders is anchored via the flange at two diametrically opposed locations. Furthermore it becomes possible, in contrast to prior art, to decrease the cartridge flange by lateral sections and to securely anchor even individual cylinders with separate flanges.

    • The dispensing apparatus receives and retains disposable cartridges, e.g., dual cartridges for two-component systems. Extensible rams, propelled by auxiliary power (e.g., pneumatic, electric motor power, etc.) are used for advancing the feeder pistons within the cartrdige cylinders for dispensing the cartridge contents. For controlling the auxiliary power the apparatus handle comprises an integrated valve or switch which can be operated with a trigger. If ever the rams should be extended without a cartridge being placed in the discharging position, consequential injuries or damages of material could result therefrom. To prevent this, a cartridge sensing element has been arranged, e.g., for shifting motion within the trigger and provided with a blocking cam. Without a cartridge being in place the cartridge sensing element is held in a blocking or non-actuating position and the blocking cam is positioned facing a stop, thus impeding the operation of the trigger and consequently blocking the extension of the ram. A cartridge placed correctly in the discharging position causes the sensing element to be held in the release position, whereby the blocking cam is freed and thus making triggering of the ram propulsion system possible. Consequently the rams can be extended without hazard in the cartridge cylinders.

    • In the filling process of dispensing cartridges which have a self-sealing sliding delivery piston in the storage cylinder, it is essential to avoid the inclusion of air in the cylinder above the contents of the cartridge. For this purpose, the face of the piston toward the contents forms a continuous concavity having its vertex at the centre, where a vent hole passes through the piston to the outside. This hole seats a closing screw and has longitudinal grooves. These grooves are surrounded by an annular sealing surface which provides an axial seating for the screw head. When the screw is tightened, it securely closes all the longitudinal grooves. This design readily permits the automation of the filling, venting, and closing processes without impairment of the effectiveness of the piston's annular seal. A system of radial grooves in the face of the piston also ensures perfect venting of high-viscosity contents that form an irregular surface.

    • The cartridge assembly for dispensing at least one component comprises a cartridge having a rigid cartridge cylinder, a package assembly having a membrane containing liquid chemical, the membrane having a closed inlet end and an outlet end and a piston assembly disposed in said cartridge assembly. The piston side end of the inner wall of the cartridge cylinder and the front of said piston assembly are formed thus that the membrane is turned outside-in within itself by the action of the piston provided with a sealing lip such that the inner surfaces of the turned outside-in wall portions of the membrane are sliding relative to each other during emptying of the package, sealing the gap betweeen the double walls. Such a device requires considerably less dispensing force which is important particularly for a hand driven apparatus, and allows an efficient sealing of the liquid while dispensing.

    • The dispensing appliance for at least two components comprises a metering pump assembly with a housing comprising a metering cylinder for each component, each metering cylinder having an inlet and an outlet and a displacement plunger. The metering cylinders have eccentric outlet noses which end in a double outlet with a common outlet nozzle having their centers on a straight line which connects the centers located of the two metering cylinders and between the centers of the metering cylinders. In a preferred embodiment the cross sectional area of any pair of cylinder/displacement plunger combination between ratios of 1:1 and 20:1 is substantially equal. Such an assembly is modular, lightweight, highly compact, cost effective and can be easily disassembled for cleaning and maintenance.

    • The multiple component metering and relative proportioning device, in particular a two-component co-axial device, comprises a cartridge (1) wherein at least one inner package assembly (3) containing one component is lodged within an outer package assembly (2) containing another component. The package assemblies (2, 3) are collapsible and are located in a reusable rigid housing (4), each package assembly having an individual outlet (8, 11), all individual outlets being joined in a common outlet piece (10).
