    • A logarithmic amplifier includes an operational amplifier, an element for logarithmic conversion purposes connected to a feedback circuit of the operational amplifier, an oscillation prevention circuit having a capacitor connected in parallel with the logarithmic conversion element, and a control circuit for controlling the oscillation prevention circuit in such a way that the amount of feedback by way of the oscillation prevention circuit is reduced as an input current to the operational amplifier becomes smaller. To improve the high-speed response characteristics of the logarithmic operational amplifier, the operational amplifier is made up of a composite amplifier consisting of an FET input type operational amplifier and a bipolar input type operational amplifier.

    • An electric field level detecting apparatus includes an intermediate-frequency signal generator, an intermediate-frequency amplifier, an analog voltage generator, an analog/digital converter, N converting tables, and a control circuit. The variable attenuator receives an intermediate-frequency signal from the intermediate-frequency signal generator as an input and changes a passing attenuation value in accordance with an attenuation value set to be changed at N steps (N: arbitrary natural number) by a first control signal. Each of the N converting tables prestores a relationship between a digital voltage and an electric field strength of a radio frequency reception signal corresponding to the attenuation value set in the variable attenuator and converts the digital voltage from the analog/digital converter into an electric field level signal indicating a corresponding electric field strength to output the electric field level signal. The control circuit outputs the first control signal for setting the attenuation value of the variable attenuator to be changed at N steps on the basis of the digital voltage from the analog/digital converter to select one of the converting tables in accordance with the attenuation value set in the variable attenuator.

    • A compressor limiter is provided for the processing of audio signals. Fundamentally, the invention includes an amplifier receiving audio input signals and including a photoresistive element in the feedback circuit thereof. The output of the amplifier is provided to a dual stage control voltage generating circuit. The first stage generates a current through a light emitting diode corresponding to the amplitude of the output signal from the amplifier. The light emitting diode sets a threshold for suppression of the output audio signal such that, as light is emitted from the diode, it effects the photoresistor in the feedback circuit of the amplifier, thus adjusting the gain. The other branch of the control voltage generating circuitry comprises a peak detector which is operative for controlling the light emitted from the diode when successive audio signals exceeding the threshold are received in rapid succession.
