摘要： Pouches in an interconnected strip are advanced edgewise to a cut-off station where the leading pouch is severed from the strip. Prior to being severed, the leading pouch is gripped by a transfer mechanism which lifts the severed pouch upwardly into pouch clamps carried on the opposing inboard runs of two chains adapted to advance the pouch broadwise through a filling section and along a path extending at right angles to the path of the pouch strip. Before being filled, the pouches are opened by shifting portions of the inboard runs of the two chains laterally toward one another and by pulling the side panels of the pouch away from one another with suction cups. The chains are adapted to be simultaneously adjusted in laterally opposite directions and through equal distances to enable the machine to be changed over to run pouches of different width while keeping pouches of all widths centered with respect to a common datum line as the pouches are advanced through the filling section.

摘要： An improved form, fill, seal and separate packaging machine for reclosable containers is accomplished by a plurality of stations disposed along a path of travel of a thermoplastic web including means to attach a pair of mated, resealable closure strips to the base web. The machine is intermittent in its operation, with movement of the web through the machine controlled so that the various steps of applying the closure strips, forming, filling, sealing and separating the reclosable containers are performed during periodic stops of the machine. The machine is further characterized by its use of two pairs of web belts to move the web through the machine. A first pair of web belts initially receive the folded web stock and partially form and completely fill the containers. The second pair of web belts overlap with the downstream end of the first pair of belts, but are disposed lower than the first belts. When the filled partially formed containers pass from the first pair of belts to the second pair of belts, the unsealed free ends are exposed for final sealing and severing.

摘要： A plastic bag is formed, filled, sealed and separated from continuous webs of plastic material. The webs pass downwardly between complementary U-shaped heat sealing jaws that reciprocate and cooperate to provide seams which form a pocket that is closed after it has been filled from above and indexed downwardly. The top seam of one pocket is formed simultaneously with the bottom seam of an adjacent pocket and a weakened line of juncture is provided therebetween. Grippers carried on the heat sealing jaws engage opposite sides of the plastic webs above the location of the top seam of the filled pocket and cooperate with a separator that tensions the webs along the weakened line to rupture the filled pocket from the webs while the webs are still in a thermally weakened condition.

摘要： The present invention relates to a unique method and apparatus for packaging a product in individual vacuum-sealed packets constructed of a sheet of flexible material. In the method of the present invention, a sheet of flexible packaging material is formed into a channel-shaped member having spaced apart vertical sidewalls. The facing surfaces of the sidewalls are sealed at horizontally spaced apart, vertical locations to define a plurality of open top packets. A predetermined amount of a flowable product is introduced into each of the open top packets. Next, the upper corner portions of each individual packet are sealed to reduce the size of the opening in the packets. A vacuum tube is introduced into the open top packet and the upper portion of the open top packet is sealed around the vacuum tube. The interior of the packet is then evacuated through the vacuum tube and an initial horizontal top seal is produced below the vacuum tube to initially seal the packet. Finally, the vacuum tube is retracted and a final horizontal top seal is produced above the initial top seal.

摘要： A continuous paper web is fed in a longitudinal path. Glue is applied in transverse strips at regular intervals along the longitudinally disposed continuous web over a part only of the width of the web. A first plow folds over a portion of the web having the transverse glue strips to a position above an adjacent flat portion of the web. An insert or stuffer is fed into the web between the folded over portion and the flat portion and against an inner crotch thereof formed by the fold line. The space between the folded over portion and the flat portion away from the fold is open and forms a wide mouth to readily receive the inserts delivered thereto. This first folded over portion is then closed down over the inserts lying on the flat portion causing the glue strips to seal onto the flat portion. The folded over portion and the flat portion of the web contain inserts between each of the transverse glue strips. A glue strip is applied longitudinally to the web on the flat portion thereof not having a folded over portion thereabove. A second plow acts to fold the longitudinally glued flap strip over onto the top of the folded over portion to thereby seal the top of the formed envelope. The continuous web is then sheared transversely at each transverse glue strip to thus divide the continuous web into multiple individual stuffed and sealed envelopes.

A flattened severed tube section of the bag material is clamped across its entire width at the bottom but only near the folded longitudinal edges (or the side pleats if such are provided) at the top. The walls of the tube section are pulled apart at the top between the clamped regions to present a filling aperture and welded together at the bottom across the entire width below the clamped region. After the contents of the bag have been inserted through the filling aperture, the top of the tube section is welded shut above the clamped regions and the bag is discharged.
