    • A method for the manufacture of a machine part with external teeth, particularly a starter ring or gear part, by spin forming of a circular blank and inductive heating which makes it possible to form high-quality tooth systems on an outer area of a cylindrical part. A circuit metal blank is fixed between chuck jaws in a spinning device and an end region is heated by at least one induction device and passes into a plastic state. Tools are then infed on either side of the chuck jaws and a forming operation, which includes material upsetting, is performed with a gear-cutting roll to form the external teeth. This is followed by induction heating of the teeth.

    • For shaping longitudinal grooves or comparable longitudinal structures into round housings or housings which are otherwise regularly shaped with respect to a longitudinal axis, a press is provided with a deforming tool whose top tool presses a workpiece through a corresponding roll arrangement of a bottom tool. The bottom tool has an opening which is coaxial to the top tool contains an axially displaceable cage provided with a group of rolls. The rolls are rotatably disposed in the cage and are supported on radially exterior abutments which are stationarily held in the bottom tool. The rolls are constructed as profile rolls and shape the desired longitudinal structures into the workpiece when it is moved through between the profile rolls. The resulting radial reaction forces are absorbed exclusively by the abutments and not by the cage. For supporting the longitudinal movement of the cage, a transmission is formed, for example, by gear wheels which are rotatably disposed on the cage. The gear wheels are supported radially on the outside on stationary toothed racks and radially on the inside on a workpiece-operated slide provided with toothed racks.

    • In a method for increasing the thickness of an outer peripheral portion of a metallic disc material, a first forming die is prepared so as to have a first groove portion on an outer periphery thereof for receiving the metallic disc material. The first groove portion has a pair of side walls and a bottom wall therebetween. The side walls has inclined surfaces facing each other so as to increase the width of the first groove portion toward the outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material. One of the side walls has a greater length from the bottom wall of the first groove portion than that of the other side wall. The first cylindrical forming die is pressed against the outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material in a radial direction to form a thickened outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material. When the first forming die is pressed against the outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material in the radial direction, the inclined surface of the one side wall of the first forming die is brought into contact with one surface of the outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material, so that the outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material is bent in a direction along the inclined surface of the one side wall while molding the thickened outer peripheral portion of the metallic disc material in the first groove portion.
