    • A sight base is configured to receive and secure a sighting device and is coupled to a base by a pin running in each of the grooves and rotatable about the pins between an aligned position with the base extending between the parallel walls and the optical device aligned with the sighting axis, and a deployed position rotated away from the aligned position. A detent releasably retains the sight base in the aligned position. A clamp member is carried on the lower extent of the base, and releasably engages the rail with selectively movable to tighten and secure the clamp and base to the rail. A lever is coupled to the base and to the clamp member, and has a camming surface configured to move the movable portion of the clamp into and out of engagement with the rail in response to actuation of the lever. The camming surface of the lever bears on a resilient surface carried by the base.

    • A method of attaching a rifle scope, having a windage knob, to a rifle having a rifle bore and that utilizes a scope mount having a top rail adapted to receive a scope at a predetermined orientation. The scope mount is attached to the rifle in a first manner, permitting adjustment of azimuth angle of the top rail relative to the rifle bore. Then a scope is attached to the scope mount and the error of the scope azimuth angle with respect to initial bullet direction is estimated. The azimuth angle of top rail relative to the rifle is adjusted by the azimuth angle error and the mounting of the scope to the rifle is finalized, thereby creating a rigid attachment.

    • A coupler apparatus for releasably securing an object to a support member, is described. The mounting apparatus includes a connector joined to the object and having a tapered plug with a slot that extends inward from an outer wall of the plug. The apparatus further includes a base with an internal cavity extending between opposed side walls of the base. The base may be integral with the support member and has an aperture with an internal wall arrangement including an orifice wherein the aperture is dimensioned for reception of the plug. A keeper is slidable positioned within the internal cavity and has a finger that extends though the orifice and into the slot to retain the plug within the aperture. The apparatus is moveable between a secured position wherein the keeper finger extends through the orifice and into the slot of the plug positioned within the aperture, a released position wherein the keeper finger is disengaged from the orifice, and a detached position wherein the connector and the object are removed from the base by applying a linear lifting force.
