THE SYSTEM MAY INCLUDE A FUEL CONTAINER, A FUEL PUMP, A CHECK VALVE, AN ACCUMULATOR, AND A PRESSURE REGULATOR. FUEL FROM THE PRESSURE REGULATOR MAY BE SUPPLIED TO A GAS-PERMEABLE CHAMBER POSITIONED PROXIMATE THE CATALYST IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. FUEL SUPPLIED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FROM THE PRESSURE REGULATOR EXOTHERMICALLY REACTS WITH AIR. THE REACTION IS ASSISTED BY THE CATALYST IN THE CONVERTER, AND THE REACTION HEAT MAINTAINS THE CATALYST AT AN EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE.

摘要： An extremely low polluting turbine-powered vehicle comprises in combination a supercharged internal combustion engine operating under fuel-rich conditions, an interburner for completing the combustion of unburned fuel in the exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine, a gas turbine for utilizing the exhaust gases from the interburner for powering the vehicle, an air compressor driven by the engine and turbine for providing air under pressure to the interburner, an air compressor driven by the engine and turbine for providing air under pressure for use by the internal combustion engine and by the interburner compressor, a gas reservoir for storing exhaust gas supplied from the interburner for later use in providing power to the turbine for the acceleration of the vehicle or initial operation thereof, and a heat exchange/storage device for abstracting heat from the exhaust gas supplied to the gas reservoir and for returning a substantial portion of this abstracted heat to the exhaust gas delivered from the gas reservoir to the gas turbine.

摘要： Pollution control system for an internal combustion engine includes a combustion chamber assembly having a combustion chamber and an igniter in the chamber to burn the exhaust gases from the engine. Air is pumped to the gases in the chamber and a cooling chamber surrounds the combustion chamber for cooling purposes. An upstanding baffle in the combustion chamber imparts an upwardly swirling motion to the exhaust gases to direct them against a depending arch having a cavity therein for receiving the swirling gases, whereby a back pressure is created to facilitate combustion of the gases.
