摘要： Dental articulators have conventionally been constructed so as to utilize a lower assembly including a mandibular bow and an upper assembly including a maxillary bow connected together through the use of simulated condyles and fossa in such a manner as to permit movement between the two bows simulating the movement of the maxillary teeth relative to the mandibular teeth. The utility of such articulators can be improved through the use of a latch structure connecting the upper and lower assemblies in such a manner as to permit such movement and in such a manner as to permit the upper assembly to be moved into stable positions in which the maxillary bow extends substantially vertically from the mandibular bow and in which the maxillary bow and the mandibular bow both face upwardly.

摘要： A novel method for embedding a button into a dental cast by forming a cavity and pouring a cold setting material such as a plastic into which a screw is inserted while the poured button is in the fluid form before final setting. The screw has a notch in at least one thread so that the molding material forms an interlock or detent in the notch, which is sheared upon removal of the screw.

摘要： Styluses defining a hinge axis in a dental articulator are received in guide block pathways defined by side walls and a curved upper wall. The blocks are rotatably mounted to vary the slope of the upper wall. A supply of guide blocks is provided having a medial wall with a rear curved portion which varies for different blocks based on average values. The user selects the blocks having the desired medial wall to provide the desired side shift. In one arrangement, the side walls are formed as a unit and removeably mounted on the upper wall and the user selects the side wall unit from a supply of units providing different degrees of side shift movement. In another form, the medial wall is transversely adjustable.

摘要： A dental articulator is disclosed which simulates the operation of human jaws for use in the manufacture of false teeth. An upper frame representing the upper jaw is mounted to a lower frame by a pair of ball and socket joints which may be adjusted to approximate a specific patient''s jaw hinge. Each socket has three sides. Relative motion of the ball is allowed along two sides of the socket and away from the third side. The third side provides a reference position corresponding to the fully closed, occludent position of the upper and lower jaws. The two sides which determine the direction of allowed motion of the ball relative to the socket may be adjusted independently as to azimuth and elevation without disturbing the fixed reference position. Further, a lock arrangement is provided which locks each ball in the fixed reference position while allowing rotation of the upper frame and sockets about that position.

摘要： A first mounting device has a top plate vertically adjustable in parallel relation to a bottom plate, and a support bracket parallelly adjustable therebetween with means thereon for engaging a dentist''s jaw model on the occlusion plane thereof, whereby hardenable material may be poured between the model and the top and bottom plates to provide two working surfaces on the model. A second mounting device having a bottom plate and a top plate guided in parallel therewith and adjustable in the vertical plane receives the working surfaces of the model therebetween. However, an auxilliary alignable device insertable on the second mounting device in place of the top plate, and having an alignable vertically disposed blade-like alignment member at the front thereof with notches at either end for engaging the model, is first used to align the vertical symmetry axis of the model on the base plate whereby a screw-threaded ring can be secured to the model in alignment. Thereafter the ring secures the model to the base plate with a mating nut, with the ring engaging a key in an aperture through the base plate so the model is always in proper alignment for insertion of the teeth in the wax layer thereon.

摘要： An articulator is described for movement of dental casts along pathways of average anatomical dimensions. The articulator is provided with a condyle-fossa hinged connection that has fixed or unadjustable medial and superior wall guides with posterior wall guides which are adjustable between two positions about a vertical axis through the condyle. In a preferred embodiment, replaceable inserts are used as superior and/or medial wall guides and several such inserts that duplicate fossa guide surfaces are provided. The articulator is for use in the instruction of students or for other applications where the complex and delicate articulators which have multiple adjustments are not necessary. The articulator is preferably provided in combination with a series of dental casts which present typical dental problems as an instructional study aid.
