    • This invention relates to a cultivating shank assembly in which a mounting frame is comprised of a mounting frame portion and a tool shank support portion pivoted thereon. The mounting frame portion and the tool support portion are formed of plates which are held together by suitable transversely extending plates which support the mounting frame on a cultivating tool bar and mount the tool shank respectively. A compression spring for the mounting assembly is connected between the tool shank portion and the mounting frame portion of the mounting frame and is guided between inner and outer cylindrical spring retainers which are pivoted respectively on the tool shank support portion and the mounting frame portion to prevent the compression spring from buckling and to guide the same such that the compressive force will always be applied along the extent of the spring. Suitable apertures in the mounting frame portion provide a limit stop to define the pitch adjustment of the tool shank and provide preload adjustment for the compression spring.

    • An automatic reset plow assembly includes a plow frame drawn by an agricultural vehicle. A plow standard is pivotally connected to the underside of the frame to enable the plow share to pivot backwardly and upwardly upon engaging an obstruction in the soil. The plow standard is resiliently biased downwardly by a toggle link assembly having one link pivotally connected to the plow standard and a second link pivoted to the frame. The other ends of the two links are pivotally connected together and to a slide element to form the elbow of the toggle link. The slide element is slideably received along a guide member which is also pivotally mounted to the frame. A compression spring surrounds the guide and resiliently biases the slide element and toggle links to maintain the plow standard in a normally downwardly pivoted plowing position. Upon encountering an obstruction, the plow pivots rearwardly and collapses the toggle link assembly. After the plow passes the obstruction, the spring returns the toggle link assembly and plow to their normal operative position. A damper assembly is optionally provided at the connection between the frame and second link to reduce shock resulting from the return of the plow from its tripped positioned to its operative plowing position.

    • A tillage implement having a plurality of spaced ground-working tools, with safety trip means for each tool allowing the tool to move from a normal ground-penetrating position to a position elevated thereabove when an obstruction, such as a rock or a stump, is encountered. Each ground-working tool is mounted for free-swinging movement between the ground-penetrating position and a fully elevated position above the ground, and the tool is positively guided to and from the ground-working position, with the guiding means functioning to allow the ground-working tool to initially move out of the ground-penetrating position without substantial downward movement into the ground, and with the guiding means also functioning to direct the ground-working tool back into the ground at the proper angle of reentry. Hydraulic cylinder means continuously biases each tool toward the groundpenetrating position, with the hydraulic cylinder means yieldably resisting movement of the tool away from the ground-penetrating position and returning the ground-working tool into the groundpenetrating position after the obstruction has been cleared.
