    • A lock mechanism includes a casing structure adapted to be mounted to one of a door and a door frame for cooperation with an apertured strike plate mounted to the other of the door and door frame. The lock mechanism further comprises a front plate for the casing structure with a pair of apertures therein and a latch bolt retractably mounted with respect to the casing structure and biased to an extended first position wherein a latching portion thereof extends from one of the front plate apertures for engagement with the strike plate aperture, and movable to a secnd retracted position. The latching portion of the latch bolt has a beveled leading surface located for engagement with the strike plate only when the latch bolt is moved a predetermined amount toward the retracted position. Retracting structure is operatively coupled with the latch bolt for effecting the predetermined amount of movement of the latch bolt toward said retracted position for effecting the desired positioning of the beveled leading surface thereof.

    • A safety lock for securing a radiation source in a radiography exposure device is disclosed. The safety lock prevents the inadvertent extension of the radiation source from the exposure device. The exposure devices are used extensively in industry for nondestructive testing of metal materials for defect. Unnecessary exposure of the radiographer or operator occurs not infrequently due to operator's error in believing that the radiation source is secured in the exposure device when, in fact, it is not. The present invention solves this problem of unnecessary exposure by releasingly trapping the radiation source in the shield of the radiography exposure device each time the source is retracted therein so that it is not inadvertently extended therefrom without the operator resetting the safety lock, thereby releasing the radiation source. Further, the safety lock includes an indicator which indicates when the source is trapped in the exposure device and also when it is untrapped. The safety lock is so designed that it does not prevent the return of the source to the trapped, shielded position in the exposure device. Further the safety lock includes a key means for locking the radiation source in the trapped position. The key means cannot be actuated until said radiation source is in said trapped position to further insure the safety lock cannot be inadvertently locked with the source untrapped and thus still extendable from the exposure device.

    • A LOCK HOUSING ON A DOOR HAVING A SLIDING SPRING PRESSED STRIKER BAR PROJECTABLE THROUGH AN OPENING IN THE OUTER EDGE OF THE HOUSING AND MOVABLE INWARDLY BY THE DOOR POST WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED. REARWARDLY OF THE STRIKING BAR WITHIN THE LOCK HOUSING IS A PIVOTED SEAR HAVING SPACED DEPENDING FORWARD AND REARWARD ARMS. THE FORWARD ARM IS ADJACENT THE INNER END OF THE STRIKING BAR AND IS ENGAGED THEREBY WHEN THE LATTER IS DEPRESSED. THE REARWARD BARM ENGAGES A ROTATABLE CAM AND FUNCTIONS TO PREVENT ROTATION THEREOF. THE CAM IS FITTED TO A KEY SLIT AND CAN BE ROTATED BY TURNING IF THE KEY INSERTED INTO THE KEY SLOT. A SPRING MEMBER WITHIN THE LOCK HOUSING ACTS ON THE CAM TO ROTATE THE SAME COUNTERCLOCKWISE. A SLIDABLE LOCK BOLT WITHIN THE LOCK HOUSING IS PROJECTABLE THROUGH THE SAME EDGE OF THE LOCK HOUSING AND A LINK IS PIVOTALLY CONNECTED AT ITS ENDS TI THE CAM AND THE LOCK BOLT. INWARD DEPRESSIONN OF THE STRIKER BAR WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED WILL ACTIVE THE SEAR SUCH THAT ITS REARWARD ARM WILL DISENGAGE FROM THE CAM ALLOWING THE SPRING MEMBER TO ROTATE THE SAME COUNTERCLOCKWISE WHEREIN SUCH MOVEMENT WILL THROUGH THE CONNECTING LINK CAUSE THE LOCK BOLT TO MOVE OUTWARDLY OF THE LOCK HOUSING INTO LOCKING ENGAGEMENT WITH THE DOOR FRAME. A SPRING ENGAGES THE SEAR TO HOLD ITS REARWARD ARM IN LOCKING CONNECTION TO THE CAM WHEN THE LOCK IS OPEN AND A STOP MEANS ON THE CAM FUNCTIONS TO LIMIT ROTATION OF THE CAM WHEN THE LOCK BOLT IS WHOLLY PROJECTED OUTWARDLY IN ITS LOCKED POSITION.
