    • A multi-color image forming apparatus forming an image of a plurality of colors in one processing by using a plurality of laser beams and a plurality of developing devices, in the case where any of the laser beams becomes unusable during forming a mono-color image, makes the image data to have been outputted from the laser beam to be replaced by that of another laser beam which can be usable, then to output it. The apparatus, in the case where any of the laser beams and developing devices become unusable because of trouble caused therein during forming an image of a plurality of colors, forms an image as an emergency measure by using the remaining usable laser beams or developing devices. Moreover, in the case where any of the laser beams and developing devices for any color become unusable because of trouble caused therein during forming an image of a plurality of colors, express the color by changing the density of another color.

    • A photoelectric conversion array is comprised of a longitudinal semiconductor substrate formed with a plurality of doped regions electrically isolated from one another and equidistantly aligned in the longitudinal direction of the substrate. Each doped region is comprised of a first region containing therein base, collector and emitter regions arranged to constitute a bipolar phototransistor operative in response to irradiation of incident light onto the base region to induce a photoelectric current between the collector and emitter regions, and a second region disposed adjacent to and laterally of the first region and containing therein a drain region, a source region, a channel region between the drain and source regions and a gate region disposed on the channel region to constitute a MOS switching transistor electrically connected in series to the bipolar phototransistor and selectively operative in response to a control voltage applied to the gate region to enable the induced photoelectric current to flow through the channel region to thereby drive the corresponding bipolar phototransistor.

    • An image exposure method using a display panel, for exposing an image onto a photosensitive material by dividing the image into pixels which are arranged in a matrix pattern on the display panel and by adjusting amounts by which light is transmitted through or reflected at the pixels or an amount of emitted light. The method steps include: determining to effect exposure processing a plurality of times when a defective pixel whose amount of transmitted light, reflected light or emitted light cannot be adjusted, exists on the display panel; and effecting exposure processing a plurality of times, wherein the exposure processing of a plurality of times includes exposure with a relative position of a group of pixels arranged in a matrix pattern on the display panel and split images corresponding to the pixels being displaced, and an amount of exposure for each time of exposure processing is an amount given by dividing an overall amount of exposure in accordance with the number of times of displacement. Accordingly, it is no possibility that a specified image depends upon the defective pixel completely, and exposure-dependent ratios can be respectively distributed to the plurality of images.
