    • A card edge connector (1) comprises an insulative housing (10) having opposite top and bottom walls (12, 14) defining a central slot (142) therebetween for receiving the electronic card, a row of upper contacts (15) and a row of lower contacts (16) retained in the top and bottom walls, respectively. A supporting embossment (1461) is formed in each of the lower passageways. Each of the upper and lower contacts forms a retaining portion (150, 160), a mating beam (152, 162) and a soldering portion (154, 164) extending from opposite ends of the retaining portion, respectively. The mating beam of the lower contact is shorter than the mating beam of the upper contact and is apart from and above the supporting means with a distance which is within the spring limitation amount of the mating beam of a corresponding lower contact retained in the housing.

    • A DIMM connection system includes a pair of non-vertical DIMM first and second connectors (10, 12) head to head positioned on a printed circuit board (100). Each of the connectors (10, 12) including an insulative housing (14) defining a central slots (16) for receiving the card therein. Two rows of pairs of contacts (18) are positioned within the housing (14) by two sides of the central slot (16) for engagement with the card. A pair of ejectors (20) are disposed at two opposite ends of the housing (14) for ejecting the inserted card. The key (24) in the slot of the first connector (10) is aligned with that of the second connector (12) in a transverse direction. The pair of contacts (18) of the first connector (10) are aligned with the corresponding pair of contacts (18) of the second connector (12) in the same transverse direction. A printed circuit board (100) is positioned under the pair of connectors (10, 12), and includes four rows of conductive pads (102) thereon corresponding to the contacts (18) of the first and the second connectors (10, 12) wherein for each set including four conductive pads (102) respectively in the four rows and aligned with one another in the same transverse direction, the first conductive pad (102) is electrically connected to the third conductive pad (102) while the second conductive pad (102) is electrically connected to the fourth conductive pad (102) so that both the connectors (10, 12) share the same circuits on the printed circuit board (100).

    • A connector assembly (10) includes a lower housing (14) and an upper housing (12) each generally including the basic structure of the typical SO DIMM connector housing (16, 16'). Each housing (14, 12) defines two rows of passageways (20, 20') on two sides of the central slot (18, 18') in which the corresponding module (100) is received. A plurality of contacts (40, 42, 50, 52) are received within the corresponding passageways (20, 20') wherein the tail of each contact (40, 42, 50, 52) extends downward to engage the corresponding circuit on the PC board (100) on which the connector assembly (10) is mounted. The upper housing (12) includes a standoff portion (30) thereabouts wherein the standoff's thickness is generally equal to the thickness of the lower housing (14) so that the upper housing (12) defines a space (32) thereunder to have the lower housing (14) positioned therein under the condition that the upper housing (12) and lower housing (14) are substantially offset with each other in the front-to-end direction.
