    • A method for making a coaxial cable including an inner conductor, an outer conductor, and a dielectric material layer therebetween may include forming the inner conductor by at least forming a bimetallic strip into a tubular bimetallic layer having a pair of longitudinal edge portions at a longitudinal seam. The bimetallic strip may include an inner metal layer and an outer metal layer bonded thereto and coextensive therewith. Each of the longitudinal edge portions may be folded over. The method may also include forming a welded joint between adjacent portions of the folded over longitudinal edge portions and defining surplus material at the welded joint. The method may further include removing the surplus material at the welded joint and forming the dielectric material layer surrounding the inner conductor. The method may also include forming the outer conductor surrounding the dielectric material layer.

    • Coaxial cable shielding. In one example embodiment, a coaxial cable includes a center conductor surrounded by a dielectric, a conductive tape surrounding the dielectric, and a jacket surrounding the conductive tape. The conductive tape includes a conductive layer and a bonding agent layer immediately adjacent to the conductive layer. The conductive tape defines first and second edge sections that each borders an interior section. The conductive tape is wrapped around the dielectric such that the first edge section overlaps with the second edge section. The bonding agent layer extends over only at most a portion of the first edge section such that at least a portion of the conductive layer in the first edge section is immediately adjacent to at least a portion of the conductive layer in the second edge section.

    • Semi-bonded shielding in a coaxial cable. In one example embodiment, a coaxial cable includes a center conductor surrounded by a dielectric, an inner conductive tape surrounding the dielectric, a conductive braid surrounding the inner conductive tape, an outer conductive tape surrounding the conductive braid, and a jacket surrounding the outer conductive tape such that the strip of bonding agent semi-bonds the outer conductive tape to the jacket. The outer conductive tape includes an aluminum layer, a polymer layer adjacent to the aluminum layer, and a strip of bonding agent adjacent to the aluminum layer. The strip of bonding agent covers between about 10% and about 33% of a surface of the aluminum layer.
