摘要： Data areas AR1 and AR2, lead-in areas LIN1 and LIN2, and lead-out areas LOUT1 and LOUT2 are provided on a disc. For example, in case of encrypting and recording data into the data area AR2, copyright management information R2 and key information K2 are recorded into the lead-out area LOUT2. Only information in a Q channel of a subcode is recorded in the lead-out area and this area is filled with dummy data. A position of the lead-out is obtained from TOC information. The fact that a light spot has entered the lead-out area can be judged from the information in the Q channel. The copyright management information and key information are recorded by using the lead-out area. The lead-out area is not rewritten or accessed by an ordinary CD player, so that the copyright management information and the key information can be safely held.

摘要： There are provided an information recording medium, and an information processing apparatus and method by which content usage in compliance with copyright protection is made possible in information processing devices such as a CD player and a PC. In the information recording medium, a first data storage area on which a copying prevention process is performed, and a second data storage area in which is stored an encrypted content file containing encrypted content, and encrypted key data such that key data for use in a decryption process is encrypted and which can be decrypted only in a device having a license are set. It becomes possible to play back the recorded content of a first data recording field in a playback device such as a CD player, and even in an information processing device, such as a PC, it is possible to decrypt and play back encrypted content of a second data recording field under the condition of obtaining a license.

摘要： Distribution of audio and other multimedia content is accomplished by generating a multimedia session consisting of at least one multimedia program, generating a data session consisting of digital files including at least one software player program and a digital compressed file corresponding to the multimedia program; and distributing the multimedia and data sessions to consumers. The consumers can selectively play the multimedia program from said multimedia session through a player device, and through a computer by using the software player program to manipulate the compressed file. In one aspect of the invention, the multimedia and data sessions are recorded on a physical medium, such as a CD or DVD, and the medium is then distributed. In another aspect, the sessions are combined and transmitted electronically. The data session can include information associated with the multimedia content, in the form of text and graphic files.
