    • A printing system includes an image file standard determining unit, an additional information determining unit, an printing data creating unit, and a printing unit. The image file standard determining unit is configured to determine whether image data subject to printing is created in conformity with a prescribed image file standard. The additional information determining unit is configured to refer to additional information attached to the image data and determine whether the image data is created in a prescribed image data format based on the additional information. The printing data creating unit creates printing data based on the image data that is in conformity with the prescribed image file standard and the prescribed image data format. The printing unit prints an image based on the printing data created by the printing data creating unit.

    • A method used in first and second information processing apparatuses in communication with an image forming apparatus. A management server transmits the processing information adapted to one series of print operations to any of the processing devices, collects the notification information notified from each processing device, generates the display data for displaying relevantly the progress status of each print operation and the process state of each processing device, and transmits the generated display data to each processing device. Each processing device acquires the display data transmitted from the management server, and displays and switches dynamically the progress status of the processing devices in linkage with a processing device selected from among a plurality of processing devices.

    • A host that controls jobs of a printer obtains client identifying information within a job control request, which is received from a terminal, while obtaining the job information and client identifying information of the print request from the printer, and storing the same in a job information storage unit. For each job included in the job information that is obtained from the printer, a job control capability determiner compares the client identifying information (of print requester) and client identifying information of the terminal that made a control request. When both of the client identifying information is identical, it is determined that the control is allowed. When it is not identical, it is determined that the control is not allowed.

    • A printing system for use in printing objects of any of a plurality of different object types includes a printer; and a printer control device with a user interface having a first option for associating printer-independent print-quality characteristics with a selected object type to be printed by the printer. A printer-independent print-quality characteristic is an instruction associated with an element, such as object type, in an electronic page which indicates printer-independent features that are preferentially emphasized when printing the element. Examples of printer-independent print quality characteristics include “make sharp edges”, “reduce mottle”, “distinguish neighboring colors”, “reduce moiré”, “distinguish tone and edges”, “maximum tone depth”, “perceptual colors” and “compress without loss of detail”. The printing system may also include a device for retrieving printer-independent print-quality characteristics associated with a document to be printed by the printer and for associating printer-dependent imaging actions with the printer-independent print-quality characteristics.
