    • An image forming system includes an image forming portion, an image data generation portion, a position information obtaining portion, a position information adding portion, a storage portion, an image data searching portion, and a list display portion. The image forming portion forms an image on a print sheet based on image data. The position information obtaining portion obtains position information associated with a place where the image data has been generated. The position information adding portion adds the obtained position information to the generated image data. The storage portion stores therein the image data to which the position information has been added. The image data searching portion searches for the stored image data based on the position information. The list display portion displays a list of the searched image data as a candidate for the image data to be printed by the image forming portion.

    • A system and method are provided for employing a customer replaceable unit (CRU) to modify its own installation type when installed in an image forming device, including an image forming device operated under a managed service contract. A database centric CRU inventory control architecture is provided for managing image forming device information through interactive communication with CRU monitoring modules (CRUMs) associated with CRUs installed in many and widely deployed image forming devices. The disclosed systems and methods make use of the CRUMs embedded in CRUs offered by a manufacturer or supplier along with a device management application offered by the manufacturer for on-site use by a customer to implement an inventory tracking and control system that reduces inventory overhead.

    • In accordance with an embodiment, a maintenance method for an information processing apparatus comprises: acquiring a machine identification information for identifying the machine of the information processing apparatus and a machine information includes a setting value information of a plurality of setting items of a machine and an error information of the machine through an external storage apparatus, associating the acquired machine information with the machine identification information and storing the associated information in a database, acquiring a statistical image which is generated based on the setting value information of a plurality of information processing apparatuses, generating a setting value image determined by the setting value information of the machine based on the machine information stored in the database and combining the setting value image with the statistical image and displaying the combined image on a display unit.

    • An image forming system includes an upstream apparatus for forming an image on a sheet, a downstream apparatus for applying sheet processing to the sheet on which the image is formed by the upstream apparatus, an exclusive communication path for communicating information which is necessary only for an operation of each apparatus in a state in which a communication partner is fixed between the upstream apparatus and the downstream apparatus, and a general-purpose communication path for communicating information in a state in which a communication partner is selectable between the upstream apparatus and the downstream apparatus. The exclusive communication path and the general-purpose communication path communicate information which respective paths can handle by sharing the information with each other.
