    • A device for protecting the eyes by preventing incoming sunlight from falling upon the eyes includes a lens-free eye shade frame having detachable and interchangeable shades of different sizes and shapes attached to the frame and biased outward and extending horizontally from a wearer's face. The eye shade frame includes biasing members arranged on the front portion of the frame just above the wearer's eyes proximate the wearer's eyebrows for permitting adjustment of the shades on the frame by the wearer. The biasing members have engaging ends which are wedge shaped such that shades which engages the biasing members are biased horizontally outward from the wearer's face and are resiliently retained on the frame. The eye shade frame includes rearwardly extending ear extensions attached to the front portion of the frame which may be inwardly foldable. The foldability of the eyeshade frame and the resilient attachment of the shades to the frame permit easy storage in a case despite the outward arrangement of the shades on the frame.

    • A protective eyewear including a brow member, two temple arm members, a front lens and two side shields. The front lens is removably attached to the brow member within a channel formed therein. The lens includes a series of projections adjacent one edge thereof and the brow member including a corresponding series of slots opening into the channel. The projections on the lens are engaged within the slots in the brow member to lock the lens within the brow channel. The side shields are attached to the corresponding temple arm members by means of at least one projecting hub which is engaged within the temple arm. The nub preferably includes a central opening. The temple arm is molded to the side shield such that the temple arm material fills the central opening and engages the hub to lock the side shield in position. The eyewear provides a removable lens and also forms a protective structure that meets the eyewear impact resistance standards.

    • A shield for application to a temple bar of a pair of glasses functions to shield the user's eye at that side. The shield comprises an elongate relatively thin rigid plastic plate member which as applied to the temple bar lies generally flat against the respective side of the user's head and extends between the frame and the respective ear of the user. The plate member has a forward generally flat panel positionable on the outside of the temple bar, an intermediate generally flat transition panel angled rearwardly and inwardly from the forward panel and having an opening therein for the temple bar, and a rearward generally flat panel extending rearward from the intermediate transition panel on the inside of the temple bar as the shield is applied to the bar. The rearward panel has a clip for clipping the rearward panel on the temple bar. The side shield further comprises an inwardly extending flange at a forward edge of the forward panel. The flange extends in front of the pair of glasses at the side thereof. The flange is of such width and so configured as not to interfere with the user's vision. The flange acts to hold the shield against rearward movement on the temple bar when the bar is in position extending from the frame of the pair of glasses. The flange moves out from in front of the frame when the bar is swung closed.

    • A television viewing device for simulating the environment of a motion picture theater comprising in combination a viewing screen having an opening formed therein sized to expose the television tube. A pair of glasses like frames is used with the viewing screen. These frames having light blocking shields for preventing ambient light in the room in a home where a television set is situated from entering the eyes of the viewer through the top, bottom and sides of the frame. A light blocking shield is mounted in front of the frame in place of the glasses. This shield is provided with a narrow slit which can be varied in size, through which light from the viewing screen and television tube can be viewed. The surface of the viewing screen facing the viewer painted black so the only light visible to the viewer comes from the viewing screen, whereby the environment of a motion picture theater can be simulated in the home.

    • An anti-dazzle eye shade for protection against natural or artificial light rays in a reliable and effective safety system for protection of drivers against dazzling. An opaque or slightly transparent support is adapted to be held to the wearer's head at the level of the eyes. The support has an upper horizontal part, a front vertical part and two side blinders. The front part has sloped cutouts at the level of the eyes and is provided with laterally slidable portions each having a notch flared toward the bottom. The notched portions may be adjusted to the visual field of the wearer. In this way maximum protection of the eyes is obtained against all radiation outside of the direct field of vision of the wearer.
