    • A blind fastener device for fastening workpieces, including a sleeve, an expander having a locking section and an expansion section, and a separate and distinct tensioning section configured to mechanically cooperate with the expander. One end of the tensioning section is configured as a tensioning section gripping region, which may be formed as the head of a bolt. A portion of the tensioning section passes through the sleeve to cooperate with the expander so that relative rotation of the tensioning section and the expander draws the expander distal end toward the sleeve proximal end and ultimately deforming a portion of the sleeve distal end to a locked state. The sleeve may be configured as a multi-section sleeve having a sleeve retainer to locate the sections in a predetermined relationship.

    • A cap for forming a sealed cavity around an end of a fastener is disclosed having a cap body with an annular base terminating at an inner cap rim which surrounds an opening into a central cavity and lies in an inner cap plane around a majority of a circumference of the annular base. A skirt provides an annular pocket between the skirt and the annular base. The skirt has a first part which is integrally formed with the cap body from a first material and terminates at an edge, and a second part which is formed from a second material and extends from the edge of the first part of the skirt to a skirt rim which lies in or below the inner cap plane around a majority of a circumference of the skirt.

    • The description provides a method of forming a seal around an end of a fastener protruding from a structure. The cap includes a cap body with a cavity; a sealing material inlet comprising an opening in the cap body; three or more ridges protruding from the cap body into the cavity; and three or more channels between the ridges. The method includes: installing the cap body over the end of the fastener so that it is enclosed within the cavity and contacted by the ridges; injecting sealing material into the cavity via the sealing material inlet so that the sealing material flows along the channels, fills the cavity, contacts the end of the fastener, and contacts the structure; and curing the sealing material to form the seal.

    • The present invention proposes a cap for forming a sealed cavity around one end of a fastener to thereby contain out-gassing and sparking events in the event of a lightning strike to the fastener. The invention also proposes a joint comprising such a cap, and a kit of parts and method for installing such a cap. A cap according to the invention comprises: an inner cap member having an annular base terminating at an edge which surrounds an opening into an air cavity for enclosing the one end of a fastener; and an outer cap member having an annular skirt or flange which extends radially outwardly away from the annular base, the annular skirt or flange and annular base between them defining an annular sealing cavity. The cap also comprises a sealing material inlet comprising an opening in the outer cap member that is in fluid communication with the annular sealing cavity, the opening being arranged to interconnect with a sealing material injection device to provide a flow of curable sealing material from the sealing material inlet into the annular sealing cavity.

    • Apparatus and method for applying pre-molded seal caps to fasteners. The apparatus includes an installation tool and a disposable cap holding fixture. The installation tool includes a body and a handle. A plunger can pass through the body and handle. A disposable cap holding fixture can be connected to an end of the body of the installation tool. The disposable cap holding fixture can grip a surface of a pre-molded seal cap. The pre-molded seal cap can then be placed on a fastener and the disposable cap holding fixture can be rotated to rotate the cap to cover the fastener with uncured sealant in the cap. The body and handle can be rotated by an operator or the body can rotate about the handle and actuation of the plunger can cause the body and the cap holding fixture to rotate. The plunger can then dislodge the cap from the fixture.
