摘要： An endless flat band has a spirally placed, straight pulling element in the form of a thread or a wire extending in the direction of movement. A transverse connection is generated by loops and at least partially by a binding agent, wherein at least one spiral of the pulling element is inserted into a tubular fabric in the knitting machine. Because the spiral is inserted already straightened into a right/right transfer construction between loops or loops and tuck loops, it is achieved that a symmetrical fabric is made which increases the service life of the flat band and improves the useful properties.

A bi-directional fabric is also disclosed which includes in addition to the above a multiplicity of parallel transversely extending weft inserts. Each insert includes a multiplicity of continuous monofilaments extending longitudinally in parallel relation with respect to one another without crimp or twist and grouped closely together so that the outline cross-sectional configuration of the group is approximately in the shape of an elongated rectangle. Each monofilament of each insert is formed from a material taken from the group consisting of glass, carbon and aramid and has a cross-sectional diameter of between 0.00032" and 0.00095". Each insert has the thickness of the rectangular cross-sectional configuration thereof between 0.003" and 0.38", the width of the rectangular cross-sectional configuration thereof between 0.009" and 0.75" and a ratio of width-to-thickness of between 2 and 30. The total width of the warp inserts per yard width of fabric is between 55% and 98%. The total width of the weft inserts per yard length of fabric is between 55% and 98%.

摘要： A reinforced substrate is provided for use in molding a composite material. The reinforced substrate has a reinforcing layer having reinforcing fibers extending in a fiber direction that is aligned in a single direction and auxiliary fibers laminated on only one surface of the reinforcing layer so as to extend in only one direction that intersects with the fiber direction. The auxiliary fibers are joined to the reinforcing fibers to hold the reinforcing layer. The auxiliary fibers have a higher tensile elongation at break than do the reinforcing fibers. The reinforcing layer is arranged with fiber bundles of large tows being aligned in an unopened state. The large tows have a higher fiber count of the reinforcing fibers than does a regular tow.
