By utilizing such a self-bleeding cartridge assembly, the cartridge can be filled by a fluid dispenser without the need for shims, a vacuum or bleed plugs.

摘要： A flexible container for packaging liquid and powder components that are to be mixed within the container to form a bone cement comprises a divider for dividing the container into first and second compartments and for isolating the components from one another, the first compartment containing the liquid component and the second compartment containing the powder component under vacuum, and a vacuum reservoir in communication with the second compartment, the vacuum reservoir being of sufficient size to receive substantially all residual interstitial gases from the powder component and thereby ensure thorough admixing of the liquid and powder components upon release of the divider. In an exemplary embodiment, the reservoir comprises an elongated cylinder which is either hollow and closed at least at one end by a respective filter element or formed of an open-cell foam, the interior of the hollow cylinder or the open-cell foam being of sufficient free volume to receive and hold under reduced pressure the interstitial air.

摘要： A dispenser for dispensing two components is disclosed which comprises a drum 10 in which a tube 20 is supported. A first piston 12 is arranged within the drum 10 and has an opening 22 through which the tube 20 extends. The opening is provided with a plug 80 which has an aperture also through which the tube 20 extends. The plug supports a blade 32 which bears on a second piston 40 arranged within the tube 22. The plug 80 is fixed relative to the piston 12 so that it and the blade 32 move with the piston 12. During movement of the piston 12 the blade 32 slices the tube 20 and bears against the second piston 40 so that the first piston 12 and the second piston 40 move in a fixed manner as a single unit. During movement of the pistons 12 and 40 the two components are dispensed from the drum 10 and the tube 22 in a particular ratio depended upon the volume displaced by movement of the pistons 12 and 40. The dispensed components can therefore be mixed together in the predetermined ratios.

The body includes a proximal chamber, a distal chamber and a wall between the chambers. The body includes a first port in communication with the proximal chamber and a second port in communication with the distal chamber. A shaft is movably positioned within the body. The shaft extends through the wall and includes a proximal plunger positioned within the proximal chamber and a distal plunger positioned within the distal chamber. Pressure introduced through an opening in the proximal end moves the shaft such that the proximal plunger moves a fluid within the proximal chamber out of the first port and the distal plunger moves a fluid within the distal chamber out of the second port to simultaneously actuate a bone filler dispenser.
