    • Disclosed is a chair and a method using the chair, which can be not only used easily and comfortably but also utilized in treating an improper alignment of spinal vertebrae. The chair has a seat assembly for seating the user on the seat assembly, the seat assembly being operated by the user in such a manner as that the user can adjust a height of the seat assembly; a backrest assembly for supporting a back of the user, the backrest assembly being operated separately from the seat assembly by the user in such a manner that the user can adjust a height of the backrest assembly; a headrest assembly for resting a head of the user on the headrest assembly, the headrest assembly being assembled with the backrest assembly; and a backrest frame for supporting the backrest assembly and the headrest assembly, the backrest frame being fixed to the seat assembly, the backrest assembly moving along the backrest frame when the height of the backrest assembly is adjusted.

    • A variably adjustable wheelchair is provided in which the height of the seat of the chair and the angle of the seat relative to the horizontal can be readily and easily changed depending upon the height, depth or angle that is desired or required by the wheelchair user. The wheelchair includes a backrest that is upwardly and downwardly moveable relative to the seat of the chair. The wheelchair also includes a pair of separately and variably adjustable armrests which allow each armrest to be independently raised or lowered. The armrests may also be turned inwardly or outwardly relative to the torso of the user of the wheelchair. The wheelchair also includes a pair of variably adjustable legrests that are completely removable from the wheelchair and rotatable from the front of the wheelchair to the sides of it. The wheelchair also includes a mechanism for adjusting the width of the chair to further facilitate accommodation of it to its users. All fasteners utilized in the wheelchair are driven by a simple, hand-held drive mechanism that is provided with the wheelchair.

    • A wheelchair includes a chassis, a positioning module, a seat frame, and a seat. The positioning module is mounted to an upper portion of the chassis. The seat frame includes a support member secured to and spanning a seating area of the positioning module and a front frame member secured to a front end of the support member and overhanging a front edge of the seating area of the positioning module, such that the seat frame at least partially straddles the positioning module. The front frame member is connected with and at least partially supports at least one of a side frame member, foot rest, leg rest and arm rest assembled with and supported by the front frame member. The seat is secured to an upper surface of the support member.

    • A light weight foldable and customizable wheelchair (4) is described. It is comprised of a tubular frame (9) formed at least in part of molded polymer matrix composite material tubes and connectors. The wheelchair has two side frame tubular assemblies (9, 9′) interconnected in side-by-side relation-ship by a pair of cross-brace (8, 8′) members. The side frame tubular assemblies define a seating section (6) therebetween. A rear wheel mounting post (80) is secured to each of the side frame assemblies adjacent a rear end section thereof for securing a rear wheel (86) to each of the side frame tubular assemblies (9, 9′) at a desired selected position. A front wheel assembly (7, 7′) is secured to a lowermost front end of each of the side frame tubular assemblies. The seating section (6) is configurable along three axes. Each of the side frame tubular assemblies (9, 9′) is adjustable in depth and in height, constituting a first and second of the three axes, by cutting tubes (70′, 70″, 71, 72) of the side frame tubular assemblies to a desired length and gluing them to associated ones of the connectors (71′, 71″, 72′, 73). Each cross-brace member (8, 8′) of the pair of cross-brace members, have a cross-brace connecting tube (30) adjustable in length to provide a width adjustment which constitutes a third of the three axes of the side frame tubular assemblies. A pair of back canes (10) is secured to the two side tubular assemblies (9, 9′).
