摘要： This invention relates to arthodesis for stabilizing the spine. More specifically, the present invention is directed to an intervertebral spacer formed of a bone material and to methods of treating patients having spinal deformities. The invention provides a spinal implant assembly comprising bone-derived components. The bone-derived components can be formed into modular units that can be assembled to provide a wide variety of implant configurations. In addition, the bone-derived components can form scaffold that can withstand the shear and impact forces necessary to insert the assembled implant into a disc space between adjacent vertebrae. In preferred forms the implants define an open spacer that serves as a depot for receipt of an osteoconductive material. The ostoegenic material is preferably a moldable filler that can form a molded reinforced implant.

摘要： Modular orthopedic implants for joint reconstruction and methods of use therein are described that comprise base, body, and stem components. The base receives an articulating portion on a first end and has a connector on a second end that mates with the body and stem. The tubular body has a tissue engaging external portion, and an internal bore. The stem has an elongated shaft configured to be situated inside of a bone, and a top end having a connector. In a group of two-connection embodiments, the base mates with the body to form a first connection and the base mates with the stem to form a second connection. In a group of three connection embodiments, the stem and body also mate to form a third connection. The connections are combinations of interference fit connections such as press fit, multiple press fit and tapered fit connections.

摘要： The present invention provides vertebral spacers having a lower surface and an upper surface, an anterior face and a posterior face extending from the lower surface, and at least one guiding groove for engaging an insertion tool. A system for delivering a vertebral spacer to the spinal column of a patient, includes an insertion tool, an optional guiding tool, a pusher, a vertebral spacer, and a cutting tool. The insertion tool accepts any of a pusher, a vertebral spacer, or a cutting tool and has at least one spacer guide for engaging with a guiding groove of a vertebral spacer. The vertebral spacer is inserted into a patient by inserting the insertion tool into an intervertebral space, engaging the guiding groove of a vertebral spacer with a space guide of the insertion tool, advancing a pusher into the insertion tool, thereby pushing the vertebral spacer into the intervertebral space and thereafter removing the pusher and the insertion tool. The cutting tool is optionally used to chisel at least one vertebral space receiving slot in the vertebrae. A hardening biocompatible composition also maybe delivered, to bond the vertebral spacer to an adjacent vertebra or be an osteogenic composition to promote bone growth.

摘要： A dynamic prosthetic foot has a heel of elasticity made of a lateral heel and a medial heel that are formed separately from one another. A lateral ankle diverges upwardly from a sole along a transverse parting line and includes a horizontal and a vertical part that collectively form a lateral ankle part. The horizontal part is supported by a return bend formed in the lateral heel. The medial heel includes a return bend formed integrally with the sole but includes no medial ankle upper part. Each of the two heel parts independently absorbs impacts generated during ambulation and therefore provides differentiated heel elasticity. The lateral heel transfers loads to the medial heel because the lateral ankle upper part is supported by the lateral heel and the return bend that forms the medial heel is unsupported.

摘要： The present invention relates to skeletal reconstruction cages and a method of providing variable fit for a skeletal reconstruction cage. The skeletal reconstruction cages include a central body having first and second ends, a first end cap coupled to one end of the central body, and a second end cap coupled to the other end of the central body. Each of the central body, first end cap, and second end cap may be provided in different sizes so that cages with varying overall heights, and related angulations, may be created.

摘要： A multi-axis prosthetic ankle includes a bottom component connected to a prosthetic foot, a lower leg connection component connected to a prosthetic lower leg, an elastomeric material securely connecting the bottom component with the lower leg connection component, and a mechanical device suspended in the elastomeric material. The mechanical device is formed of a first bracket connected to the bottom component and a second bracket connected to the lower leg connection component. The first and second brackets interlockingly float in the elastomeric material, and are not in direct contact with one another, thereby permitting relative movement of the bottom component and the lower leg connection component by deformation of the elastomeric material. At least one mechanical stop is positioned to prevent the relative angular movement of the ankle from deforming the elastomeric material beyond the elastic limit thereof.

The ankle diverges upwardly from a sole along a transverse parting line and includes a horizontal and a vertical part. The horizontal part is supported by a horizontal leading end of a central support that forms one of four parts that collectively form the heel of the prosthetic foot. A downwardly turned return bend is formed in the trailing end of the central support and a central extension extends in trailing relation to a free end of the central support. A lateral heel extension and a medial heel extension are formed integrally with the sole and flank the central extension. Each of the four heel parts absorb impacts generated during ambulation and therefore provide differentiated heel elasticity.
