    • A control device for a spark-ignition internal combustion engine that sets ignition timing based on a target value of a predetermined combustion-related parameter correlated with a combustion state and operates an ignition device in accordance with the ignition timing thus set. The control device calculates an actual value of the combustion-related parameter from an output value of the cylinder pressure sensor and feeds back the calculated value of the combustion-related parameter to the setting of ignition timing. Further, in parallel with the above processing, the control device calculates a value of a predetermined combustion variation parameter correlated with the magnitude of combustion variation from the output value of the cylinder pressure sensor. If the calculated value of the combustion variation parameter deviates from an allowable range of the combustion variation, the control device stops the feedback of the calculated value of the combustion-related parameter.

    • The present invention is a proposal relating to cooperative manipulation of an actuator which actively changes a supercharging pressure and a throttle in the case of application of torque demand control to an internal combustion engine with a supercharger. A control device provided by the present invention separately determines a target air quantity for manipulation of the throttle, and a target air quantity for manipulation of the actuator. In more detail, driver required torque which is included in required torque is converted into an air quantity in accordance with a predetermined conversion rule, and the air quantity which is obtained by the conversion is determined by calculation as a reference target air quantity. The reference target air quantity is used as a target air quantity for throttle manipulation, and is also used as a target air quantity for actuator manipulation at a normal time. When a change occurs to the required torque, and the change cannot be realized under the reference target air quantity, a correction target air quantity capable of realizing the change is determined by calculation, and is used as the target air quantity for throttle manipulation.

    • Disclosed is a control device that is used for an internal combustion engine and capable of periodically varying an air-fuel ratio while keeping torque generated by the internal combustion engine at a target torque. The control device can periodically vary a target air-fuel ratio and controls a fuel injection amount in accordance with the target air-fuel ratio which periodically varies. Further, the control device sets an air amount control torque in accordance with the target torque and calculates a target air amount for achieving the air amount control torque at a predetermined virtual air-fuel ratio. The control device then provides air amount control in accordance with the target air amount and calculates an air amount that is estimated to be achieved by the air amount control. Eventually, the control device calculates torque that is estimated to be achieved by the estimated air amount at the target air-fuel ratio, and provides ignition timing control so as to compensate for the difference between the estimated torque and the target torque by correcting ignition timing.

    • In a vehicle control apparatus controlling a vehicle operating state by using a torque generated by an internal combustion engine, an arrangement is made to inhibit fuel efficiency from being aggravated as a result of ignition timing of the internal combustion engine being retarded.The vehicle control apparatus includes a drive system control unit that comprehensively controls a drive system of the vehicle and an engine control unit that controls the internal combustion engine based on demanded torque issued from the drive system control unit. The engine control unit adjusts an amount of intake air based on the demanded torque and adjusts ignition timing so as to compensate for any deviation between torque achievable through an adjustment of the amount of intake air and the demanded torque. The drive system control unit calculates desirable torque to be desirably output to the internal combustion engine for achieving a target operating state of the vehicle based on an accelerator operation amount by a driver or signals from various types of sensors mounted on the vehicle. The drive system control unit limits a change rate of the desirable torque by using a predetermined guard value determined from torque adjustment capacity of the internal combustion engine and outputs the desirable torque after the limiting as the demanded torque to the engine control unit. The guard value is set with reference to a range of the change rate of torque achievable through the adjustment of the amount of intake air in the internal combustion engine.
