    • Basic tone waveform corresponding to a designated tone color and pitch is generated in each of a plurality of channels. Effect is imparted to the basic tone waveform in accordance with an algorithm for providing a predetermined effect, independently for each of the channels. The effect to be imparted is controlled in accordance with the designated tone pitch, separately for each of the channels. The effect impartment may be conducted using a processor, such as a DSP, executing a predetermined program containing a predetermined effect-imparting algorithm. In one example of the effect-imparting algorithm, a delay loop is employed through which an input exciting signal is circulated while being delayed, and an effect specific to an electromagnetic pickup of an electric guitar can be approximated by controlling the delay amount in the delay loop. In another example of the effect-imparting algorithm, a ransom signal is generated to control a cutoff frequency on the basis of the random signal, the basic tone waveform is filtered in accordance with the thus-controlled cutoff frequency, and the resultant filtered tone waveform is circulated through a delay loop whose delay amount is controlled in accordance with the designated tone pitch.

    • The musical tone synthesizing apparatus utilizes a loop circuit receptive of an input signal for looping the same with a given delay time to produce an output signal representative of a musical tone. The loop circuit includes a delay element for delaying the input signal and a feedback path for feeding back the delayed input signal to the delay element. A control unit is provided for controlling the delay element according to a designated pitch of a musical tone so as to set the delay time of the loop circuit to thereby determine the pitch of the musical tone. A generator generates the input signal containing various frequency components. A high-pass filter is connected precedingly to the loop circuit for selectively attenuating relatively lower frequency components of the input signal, which have periods longer than the set delay time of the loop circuit.

The controller device includes: a communication interface connectable to the computer; a plurality of faders capable of remote-controlling parameters of channels assigned thereto; a channel shift button; and a bank shift button. The channels assigned to the faders are collectively shifted by one channel in response to an instruction given via the channel shift button, or collectively shifted by the one bank in response to an instruction given via the bank shift button. For each of the controller devices, identification information of the controller device and information of a first channel of all of the assigned channels is stored so that the stored information is used at the time of activation of the software for restoring previous settings stored at the time of last deactivation of the software.
