    • The present invention relates to a transmitting apparatus (54) for transmitting signals in a multi carrier system on the basis of a frame structure, each frame comprising at least one signalling pattern and one or more data patterns, said transmitting apparatus comprisingframe forming means (59) adapted to arrange signalling data in said at least one signalling pattern in a frame, and to arrange data and at least one pilot signal in said one or more data patterns in a frame, whereby the length of each of said one or more data patterns in the frequency direction is equal to or a multiple of a minimum data pattern length, transforming means (60) adapted to transform said at least one signalling pattern and said one or more data patterns from the frequency domain into the time domain in order to generate a time domain transmission signal, and transmitting means (61) adapted to transmit said time domain transmission signal.     • In digital broadcast systems, it is common to broadcast besides main services additional services like news services. Typically, these additional services are regularly updated and broadcasted by a service provider (3) several times a day. In order to keep service data transmitted by the additional services up to date in a receiving device (1) receiving the services, a method of accessing services is given according to which a respective service information about the services provided by service providers (3) is extracted from a service presently received by the receiving device (1), and then at least one of the services about which service information was extracted according to the respective extracted service information might be accessed. Thus, the service data can automatically be updated by the receiving device (1) itself, even if transmission conditions of an additional service like update rates change over the time.

    • A power line communication modem includes a receiver that receives a noise signal over a power line channel. The signal is OFDM-modulated on a set of sub-carriers, the sub-carriers being separated by a frequency separation. The power line communication modem also includes a processor that identifies a presence of a radio service within one or more fine frequency bands with a first resolution bandwidth by analyzing a plurality of fine frequency bands. The first resolution bandwidth is smaller than the frequency separation. The power line communication modem additionally includes a transmitter that excludes a signal in at least one of the plurality of fine frequency bands, in which the presence of the radio service has been identified, before transmitting the excluded signal.
