    • A circuit disposed between a power supply and a load for detecting the flow of an excess of power from the load back through the supply. The circuit is comprised of means for sensing the instantaneous current flowing between the power supply and the load, and means for sensing the instantaneous output voltage from the power supply. The circuit is further comprised of means responsive to the sensed instantaneous voltage and current for generating a signal that is indicative of instantaneous power flowing between the power supply and the load. Means is also provided for filtering out those components of the signal indicative of the instantaneous power which are at a frequency higher than the frequency of the AC current flowing between the power supply and the load to obtain a signal having a magnitude indicative of the average power flowing therebetween. Further provided is means responsive to the average power signal for generating a signal to cause the disconnection of the power supply from the load when the average power signal is of a magnitude and polarity which is indicative of an excess in reverse power flowing from the load to the power supply.

    • An electrical inverter circuit for converting d.c. electrical input into an a.c. electrical output involving the control of active switch elements in the primary of an output transformer circuit by, in part, providing a further controllable active element in circuit with the active element switches such that the primary winding current also flows therethrough. Synchronous control means are provided for synchronously controlling this further active element so as to increase its electrical impedance during at least a portion of each switching transition of the active element switch means so as to further aid and promote the rapid and efficient transitioning of the active element switches. Various alternative circuits are shown for this and for detecting the switch point as a function of primary transformer winding current and for further controlling the transition of the active switches in combination with the increased electrical impedance of the further controllable active element in circuit therewith.

    • An apparatus is equipped to receive network traffic data for network traffic routed through a number of routing devices with one or more degrees of separation from a network node. The network traffic data include at least network traffic data for network traffic destined for the network node which meet a traffic type selection criteria and are routed by the routing devices to the network node. The apparatus is further equipped to progressively regulate and de-regulate network traffic routing by the routing devices based at least in part on the received network traffic data and the degrees of separation of the routing devices from the network node. Regulation extends from routing devices with the lowest degree of separation from the network node to routing devices with the highest degree of separation, following in the reverse direction of the routing paths traversed by the packets to reach the network node. In one embodiment, the extension or push back is made one degree of separation at a time. In one embodiment, deregulation follows the reverse path, whereas in another embodiment, deregulation is determined and implemented locally, whenever regulation or the extent of regulation is no longer needed. In one embodiment, regulation is made in accordance with a not-to-exceed profile, and the not-to-exceed limit or limits are divided up as regulation extends away from the network node.

    • Steering logic (10) for interconnecting a transceiver (11) with a baseband bus is disclosed. The transceiver is connected to a broadband bus and transmits or receives modulated carrier wave signals. The transceiver has a data in terminal (16 or 19) and a data out terminal (18 or 35) for inputting or outputting digital signals at baseband. The transceiver also has at least one control terminal (20 or 32 and 38) and is responsive to a control signal or signals for enabling or disabling the transmitting and receiving functions of the transceiver. The steering logic (10) includes a baseband bus terminal (A) to which may be applied baseband digital transmit signals and to which the steering logic may apply digital receive signals. The logic circuitry is responsive to baseband digital transmit signals applied to the baseband bus terminal (A) for generating a control signal or signals to enable the transmitting function and disable the receiving function of the transceiver.
