摘要： The present invention teaches and claims an image forming apparatus comprising: an image forming portion including one or more inkjet heads for forming an image on a recording medium by discharging ink from an ink discharge surface of the inkjet head; a recording medium transporting portion having a transport surface which is positioned below the ink discharge surface and on which the recording medium is placed for transporting a sheet to a position facing the ink discharge surface; a moving mechanism for moving the transport surface toward and away from the ink discharge surface; an ink discharge surface protecting mechanism including but not limited to a cap member and a driving device for moving the cap member; and a control unit for moving the transport surface away from the ink discharge surface to operate the ink discharge surface protecting mechanism when the recording medium is jammed during transportation of the recording medium.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus may include a recording head that extends in a direction perpendicular to a recording-medium-conveying direction. In some embodiments, the recording head may eject ink to a recording medium. An embodiment may include a recovery device that performs recovery processing of the recording head, the recovery device having a cap portion that covers an ink ejection surface of the recording head, and a wiping portion that wipes the ink ejection surface. In some embodiments, the recovery device may move along the recording-medium-conveying direction. When the recovery device moves along the recording-medium-conveying direction, the wiping portion wipes the ink ejection surface while moving along the recording-medium-conveying direction.

摘要： A fixing device includes a heated body of a hollow cylindrical shape that is made of a conductive material and driven to rotate about an axis center, and a coil that heats the heated body by means of induction heating. The coil is formed of plural coil elements divided in an axial direction of the coil parallel to a rotational axis direction of the heated body, and the coil elements are aligned in such a manner that directions of magnetic fields of adjacent coil elements are opposite to each other. The heated body is set stationary in the rotational axis direction and the coil is reciprocally driven in the axial direction.
