摘要： A fixing device includes a fixing belt that is endless and rotatable in a rotation direction and a nip former stretching the fixing belt. A pressure rotator presses against the nip former via the fixing belt to form a fixing nip between the fixing belt and the pressure rotator, through which a recording medium is conveyed. A presser is disposed downstream from an exit of the fixing nip in the rotation direction of the fixing belt. The presser brings the fixing belt into contact with the pressure rotator. A mover is coupled to the presser to move the presser between a contact position where the presser brings the fixing belt into contact with the pressure rotator and an isolation position where the presser isolates the fixing belt from the pressure rotator.

摘要： A fixing device includes a fixing belt rotatable in a predetermined direction of rotation; a pressing belt to frictionally contact the fixing belt and rotatable in a direction counter to the direction of rotation of the fixing belt; a stationary fixing pad disposed inside a loop formed by the fixing belt; a stationary pressing pad disposed inside a loop formed by the pressing belt; and a fixing belt heater disposed inside the loop formed by the fixing belt to heat the fixing belt. The fixing pad presses against the pressing pad to form a fixing nip therebetween with the fixing belt and the pressing belt interposed between the fixing pad and the pressing pad. A recording medium bearing an unfixed toner image is conveyed through the fixing nip in a state in which the unfixed toner image contacts the fixing belt.

摘要： The fixing device includes first and second heat sources, a rotatable fixing member heated by the first heat source, a rotatable pressing member heated by the second heat source and contacting the fixing member to form a fixing nip therebetween at which a toner image on a sheet is fixed thereto, and at least first and second temperature detectors determining temperatures of different surface portions of the pressing member. The pressing member has a width greater than that of the fixing member greater than the maximum width of the sheet accommodated by the fixing device. The first temperature detector determines the temperature of a surface portion of the pressing member, which is to be contacted with the sheet, and the second temperature detector determines the temperature of a second surface portion of the pressing member, which is not contacted with the fixing member even when the pressing member is rotated.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image forming mechanism, a fixing roller, a heater, a sensor, a warm-up mechanism, and a controller. The image forming mechanism forms a toner image on a recording medium according to image data. The fixing roller fixes the toner image on the recording medium by applying heat. The heater heats the fixing roller to warm up the fixing roller. The sensor detects a temperature of the fixing roller. The warm-up mechanism warms up the fixing roller by using the heater. The controller performs a first warm-up control that finishes the warm-up of the fixing roller and a second warm-up control that continues the warm-up of the fixing roller.
