    • A sealed joint for a gas sensor as described which includes a sensor shell having an attachment portion and a sealing portion. The sealing portion has an inner recessed section and an outer protruding section terminating at a free end of the shell, the outer protruding section having an outer section diameter which is greater than the diameter of the inner section. The sealed joint also has an upper shield having a shell portion disposed around the sealing portion of the shell and a connector portion which extends upwardly away from the shell portion. The sealed joint includes a first radial crimp of the upper shield proximate the inner recessed section and a second radial crimp of the upper shield in the connector portion proximate the shell portion, such that the second crimp has a crimp diameter which is less than the outer section diameter of the shell. The structure described has a sealed joint between the sealing portion of the shell and the shell portion of the upper portion located between the first crimp and the second crimp.

    • Integrated circuit charge pumps reduce parasitic charge injection from signals that drive control inputs of the charge pumps. This reduction in parasitic charge injection can be utilized to lower phase error when the charge pumps are used in phase-locked loops (PLLs). A charge pump may include an output current source and a control circuit that drives the output current source with control signals in a preferred manner. The output current source may include a totem pole driver therein. This totem pole driver includes at least an upper PMOS supply transistor and a lower PMOS current source transistor that are disposed in series in a pull-up path extending between an output of the driver and a power supply line (e.g., Vdd). The control circuit may include a pull-up control circuit that is configured to drive a gate of the upper PMOS supply transistor with a PMOS turn-on voltage in response to a leading edge of a pull-up control signal.

    • An apparatus is disclosed for predicting bone fracture risk in an osteoporotic patient. The apparatus comprises a Dual X-ray Absorptiometry scanner for scanning a body area of the patient and producing a Dual X-ray Absorptiometry image of the body area, and image analysis means for analyzing pre-determined aspects of the Dual X-ray Absorptiometry image. The apparatus further comprises data comparison means comprising a database of comparative data sets from Dual X-ray Absorptiometry images of control subjects to predict the risk of bone fracture in the patient. The image analysis means preferably analyses the shape of a body past using an Achive Shape Model or analyses the texture of a body past using Fourier Transforms and Principal Component Analysis.

    • A brake control assembly for a chain saw has an operating lever provided with a hub portion alongside a housing of the saw and a guard portion adjacent a handle carried by the housing. The hub portion is pivotally mounted on the housing allowing the lever to be moved fore and aft. A brake drum associated with the drive-transmitting mechanism of the saw is engaged by a brake band when the lever is swung to a brake-on position. The pivotal connection for the hub portion also supports an actuating plate for rocking movement independently of the hub portion. There is a drive connection between the operating lever and the actuating plate which rocks the plate on the pivotal connection when the lever is moved fore and aft. A torsion spring tends to rock the actuating plate in one direction and urge the brake band into braking engagement with the drum. The housing is fitted with a resilient latch which engages the cam finger to hold the brake band out of braking engagement with the drum. The brake arrangement operates automatically when the lever is knocked forwardly and is reset in a normal brake-off position when the lever is pulled towards the rear of the housing.
