    • A solid-state laser comprises a columnar laser rod having a central longitudinal axis, a total reflection mirror arranged coaxially of the laser rod in facing relation to one end face thereof, and a half mirror arranged coaxially of the laser rod in facing relation to the other end face thereof. The pumping light is emitted from a plurality of laser diodes arranged in an array laterally spaced from the laser rod in parallel thereto. A cylindrical lens arranged between the laser rod and the array of laser diodes serves to focus the emitted pumping light on the central longitudinal axis of the laser rod. The active substance in the laser rod is excited by the thus focused pumping light to generate a laser beam axially of the laser rod.

    • It is an object of the present invention to provide an organic EL display that has a display device such that decrease in the quality of light emitted in an organic light-emitting layer can be suppressed, operates with a low driving voltage and can emit light efficiently. In order to solve the above problem, in an organic EL display 10 of the present invention having a plurality of display device 20 provided onto a substrate 30, the display devices includes: an anode electrode 31 arranged on the substrate, a cathode electrode 32 arranged adjacently to the anode electrode; an organic light-emitting layer 38 which emits light by means of an electric field to be supplied from the anode electrode and the cathode electrode and is formed on the substrate so as to cover both the anode electrode and the cathode electrode; and a separator 42 in a substrate laminating direction which is arranged between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode and separates to insulate at least the anode electrode and the cathode electrode. A carbon nanotube is mixed in the organic light-emitting layer.

    • A semiconductor light-emitting device is made of a group III-nitride compound semiconductor expressed as AlxGayIn1-x-yN (where 0≦x≦1, 0≦y≦1, and 0≦x+y≦1). The semiconductor light-emitting device includes: a substrate made of SiC; a semiconductor layer which is placed above the substrate and has a light-emitting region; a multi-layered reflective layer which is placed between the substrate and the semiconductor layer and which reflects light produced in the light-emitting region; and a phase matching layer which is placed between the substrate and the multi-layered reflective layer and which reflects light produced in the light-emitting region and matches a phase of light reflected from a lower boundary surface of the multi-layered reflective layer and a phase of light reflected from a lower boundary surface of the substrate among light produced in the light-emitting region. A thickness of the phase matching layer is set so that a quantity of interfering light produced by the interference of light reflected from the lower boundary surface of the multi-layered reflective layer, light reflected from a lower boundary surface of the phase matching layer, and light reflected from the lower boundary surface of the substrate among light produced in the light-emitting region is locally maximized when the substrate has a predetermined thickness.
