    • A method of supplying an additive in an oil filter, the method including: forming a dispersement device housing with a first chamber and a second chamber, the second chamber being sealed from the first chamber by a pair of dividing walls; sealing a first metering opening with an oil soluble material the first metering opening being in fluid communication with the first chamber when the oil soluble material is removed from the first metering opening; sealing a second metering opening with an oil soluble material the second metering opening being in fluid communication with the second chamber when the oil soluble material is removed from the second metering opening; disposing a first liquid additive within the first chamber; disposing a second liquid additive within the second chamber; sealing the dispersement device housing with a cap, the cap being configured to seal the first chamber and the second chamber within the dispersement device housing; and securing the dispersement device housing to a filter element of the filter, the filter element and the dispersement device defining an outlet fluid opening, such that fluid flowing into and out of the filter must pass through the filter element and into the outlet fluid opening and the cap is located between the filter element and the dispersement device housing.

    • A coating, such as ink or paint, is used, where particles in the coating are selected based on electric, magnetic, or light/photo properties, and are dispersed in the coating to provide a desired physical color. In one approach, the application of the coating to the substrate such as paper is controlled using an electric or magnetic field. In another approach, a pattern is formed in a coating on a substrate by targeting an electric, magnetic or photo field to specific locations on the coating. In yet another approach, the color of a coating that is applied to an object is shifted to match a background color so that the coating appears to be erased. In this approach, the coating may be in the form of a label, such as a bar code, that can be read by a scanner at a point of sale location. In another approach a pattern or code is scrambled or removed by applying an electric, magnetic, or photo field to specific locations on the coating or substrate.

    • A process for the continuous production of cyclodextrins employs as a feedstock an aqueous solution of partially hydrolyzed starch with a dextrose equivalent between about 10 and about 15 as the feedstock for an immobilized cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase. In one variant the feedstock is sent to a membrane which removes cyclodextrins and glucose and the retentate is recycled to an immobilized glycosyltransferase so as to effectively utilize the feedstock. In another variant the effluent is passed through a water immiscibled liquid organic compound which forms a solid insoluble complex with cyclodextrins, the solids are continually removed, and the aqueous phase is recycled to an immobilized cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase as in the prior variant.
