    • In a clothes washer of the type which has an array of tuckers and which is reciprocated vertically toward and away from the bottom of a container of washing liquid, a diaphragm is mounted to have an extended orientation during downward stroke for displacing liquid, and a relatively collapsed orientation during upward stroke, and a volume-outlining, clothes-restraining open uper structure provided over the diaphgram, this open structure extending upwardly from the diaphragm so that at least a part of it extends above the normal liquid level when the washer is in its lowest position. In action, as the diaphragm displaces liquid downwardly, the open structure, in following behind the diaphragm, restrains articles of clothes from moving inwardly over the diaphragm but allows liquid to move inwardly through the clothes and through the open structure to fill in behind the diaphragm. As it approaches the bottom of the container, the diaphragm applies an effective outward clothes-washing jet of liquid from between the diaphragm and the bottom surface of the container to prevent tangle of the downwardly-tucked clothes. During upward stroke the open structure and diaphragm are free to move upwardly with relatively low resistance.

    • A means for interfacing between low pressure, low flow fluidic circuits andhe high pressure, high flow input requirements of fluidic digital thrusters to control the roll, pitch or yaw rate of missiles is provided. Input pressures from the fluidic circuitry cause a fluidic digital amplifier to go to one of its two stable states. The output from the digital amplifier operates one piston in the interface means, causing it to close off a digital thruster control port. The same output is ported to the opposite side of the other interface means piston, causing it to unblock the other digital thruster control port. Blocking of the first control port causes the digital thruster to switch to either a left or right output leg to initiate a corrective thrust. The pistons are interlocked so that only one piston can be extended to cover a given control port at any time.

    • Architecture that automatically breaks the circular reference between objects without any different logic by introducing a helper object called a child object container. The child object is contained within the container object and both share a reference counter. The parent object holds a strong reference to the container object. When adding a reference to the child object both the shared reference counter and the parent reference counter increase. When releasing a reference to the child object both the shared reference counter and the parent reference counter decrease. This approach provides a systematic way of solving the circular reference problem that does not rely on any weak-reference feature provided by the programming language.
