    • A touch panel includes a substrate, a touch-sensing circuit, a plurality of sensing signal transmission wires, a capacitance compensation conductor, and a sensing signal readout circuit. The touch-sensing circuit is disposed on the substrate. The sensing signal transmission wires are disposed on the substrate and electrically connected to the touch-sensing circuit. The capacitance compensation conductor is disposed over the sensing signal transmission wires. Capacitance of each sensing signal transmission wire is C1, and coupling capacitance between each sensing signal transmission wire and the capacitance compensation conductor is C2. The sensing signal readout circuit is electrically connected to the sensing signal transmission wires. In each sensing signal transmission wire, variation of summation of C1 and C2 is less than a readout resolution of the sensing signal readout circuit. Another touch panel using an electrostatic discharge conductor to adjust varied capacitances of sensing signal transmission wires is also provided.

    • Novel techniques are disclosed for detecting discontinuous transmission (DTX) over a communication channel. A received data frame is characterized as one of a Good frame, Erasure, or DTX. If a Good frame is not initially detected, a multi-dimensional quality metric is used to characterize the received frame as either an Erasure or DTX. A two dimensional quality metric may be generated using energy per bit to noise power ratio as a first dimension and re-encoded symbol error count as a second dimension. Alternatively, re-encoded symbol energy may be used as the second dimension of the quality metric. The communication channel may be a CDMA wireless communication channel capable of DTX and the device may be a base station, base station controller, or mobile station.

    • A handy type smoke generator includes a housing, a container, a drawing device, a transfer tube, a heat-resisting tube and a heating vaporizing device. The smoke generator is characterized in that a drawing device is provided between the container and the transfer tube, and includes a hollow tube fitted with a fastening ring member, and a core rod with an elastic ring connected thereto below. The core rod is provided with a through rod hole. A sealing cap abuts against the fastening ring member. A hollow pump is coupled with the fastening ring member such that the sealing cap is sandwiched therebetween. The elastic ring abuts against the inner wall of the pump. The pump has a retractable spring disposed therein and between the core rod and the bottom portion of the pump, and a plug ball removably closes a pump hole in the bottom portion of the pump. The bottom portion of the pump is further provided with an extension tube for extension into the bottom portion of the container. The tube has a top portion fitted with a press member which is formed with a liquid outlet in a lateral side thereof for connection with the transfer tube. The sealing cap is used to connect with the coupling portion at the top portion of the container. By pressing and releasing the press member several times, the solution within the container is pumped into the transfer tube by pumping action of the pump and flows through the heat-resisting tube into the heating vaporizing device. The solution is vaporized to form smoke that is ejected via a nozzle.
