    • A gas turbine having a device and a further device is provided. The device includes an outer casing, an inner casing and a seal ring. The outer casing and the inner casing are arranged in such a way that a cooling duct is formed between each other. The seal ring is arranged between the outer casing and the inner casing in such a way that the seal ring seals the cooling duct from an environment surrounding the outer casing. The device and the further device are mounted together such that working fluid is flowable from the further device to the device. Furthermore the device includes a rotatable shaft and the further device includes a further rotatable shaft, wherein the rotatable shaft and the further rotatable shaft are mechanically decoupled from each other, and wherein the seal ring exclusively abuts against the inner casing and against the outer casing of the device.

    • A turbine includes an inner casing to which at least a stator vane of a turbine section is mountable, and an outer casing arranged around the inner casing in such a way that an outer cooling channel is formed between the inner casing and the outer casing. The outer cooling channel includes a fluid inlet through which a cooling fluid is injectable from an outer volume of the turbine into the outer cooling channel. The cooling channel includes a fluid outlet such that the cooling fluid is exhausted into an inner volume of the turbine. The fluid inlet is located with respect to the fluid outlet such that the cooling fluid inside the outer cooling channel includes a flow direction which has a component that is orientated in opposite direction with respect to a main flow direction of a working fluid of the turbine.

    • This invention concerns filling vacancies. It may, for example, be applied to finding replacements during staff shortages. Firstly, vacancy data and candidate data is stored (5). Requests from a candidate are received to view the vacancy data using a website. The processor (1) automatically sends vacancy information to the candidate to be viewed on the website. The processor (1) receives a request from the candidate to fill the vacancy and the request to fill the vacancy is accepted. Using the invention, candidates can view vacancies and automatically accept them. This makes filling of vacancies when there are time pressures convenient.

    • There is described a method as well as a device for motion detect ion in an optical sensing device, such as an optical mouse. A photodetector array comprising a plurality of pixels is used to detect successive light intensity patterns of an illuminated portion of a surface with respect to which a measurement of relative motion is to be determined. Light intensity between neighbouring pixels is compared in order to determine edge direction data descriptive of light intensity differences between the pixels, such data including (i) a first edge condition, or positive edge, defined as a condition wherein light intensity of a first pixel is less than light intensity of a second pixel, and (ii) a second edge condition, or negative edge, defined as a condition wherein light intensity of the first pixel is greater than light intensity of the second pixel. Through comparison of this edge direction data with edge direction data determined from a previous illumination (or by comparing data extracted from this edge direction data) a measurement of the relative motion of the optical sensing device with respect to the illuminated portion of the surface is determined.
