    • A color electrophotographic apparatus having a photosensitive member, an exposing device for forming an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive member, four developing devices which attach toner on the photosensitive member and form a toner image and a transfer member for transferring the toner image onto a printing medium. The four developing devices include respectively a developing device for a yellow image, a magenta image, cyan image, and a black image.     • A distributed computing system including a plurality of computers, wherein the execution of programs by the computers to perform real-time tasks are synchronized with each other. Each of the computers includes a local clock which is synchronized with the local clocks of the other computers and a start time determining apparatus for determining execution time of a program to be executed by the computer. The program to be executed by the computer is executed in synchronism with programs in the other computers under timing constraints. The execution time is determined by the start time determining apparatus by negotiating with the start time determining apparatus of the other computers. Each of the computers further includes scheduling apparatus for scheduling the execution of the program to be executed by the computer based on the execution time negotiated by the start time determining apparatus, and a synchronized sporadic server which is executed periodically and at the same time as the execution of the synchronized sporadic servers on the other computers. The synchronized sporadic server supports the scheduling apparatus to schedule the execution of programs based on the timing constraints imposed by the start time determining apparatus.

    • Registration controlling methods are provided for a color electrophotographic apparatus capable of forming an image without color registration errors and uneven color. This is accomplished by preventing a photosensitive medium from being undesirably moved in the direction perpendicular to the transportation direction caused by an electrostatic attractive force between the photosensitive medium and an intermediate transfer device, even if there is a twist between the fixed axis of the member supporting the photosensitive medium and the axis of the member supporting the intermediate transfer device. With these methods, a fur brush cleaner made of a conductive brush is detached from the intermediate transfer device during the time period after the start of driving the photosensitive medium and until the front edge of the photosensitive medium reaches the intermediate transfer device. A small amount of toner therefore always exists between the intermediate transfer device and the photosensitive medium during the transportation of the photosensitive medium, thereby reducing the electrostatic attractive force between the intermediate transfer device and the photosensitive medium and preventing the photosensitive medium from being undesirably moved in the direction perpendicular to the transportation direction. Also during this time period, the photosensitive medium is irradiated by a fade lamp to reduce electric charges on the photosensitive medium.

    • Provided is a medical knife which makes it possible to maintain low penetration resistance, without the maximum-width parts of the medical knife creating sudden changes in penetration resistance even when passing through tissue. A knife comprises: a pointed tip; a cutting part which has edges consisting of first oblique faces which are formed along the outer periphery and second oblique faces which are formed inside the first oblique faces; maximum-width parts; and a shank part which is formed contiguously with the maximum-width parts. The cutting part is formed in such a way that the shape of the planar projection thereof becomes wider from the pointed tip towards the maximum-width parts, and the first oblique faces extend further towards the shank part side than the second oblique faces over at least one portion of the area running from the maximum-width parts to the shank part.
