The canopy has an opening and a door that can be closed to block the opening and opened to unblock the opening. A radiant heater is located in a fixed position above the infant support to direct infrared energy toward the infant support. The door closes as the canopy moves to its lower position and opens as the canopy moves to its upper position. An object sensing means is provided to detect the presence of an object resting on the upper surface of the door.

摘要： An infant warming apparatus for supporting an infant upon an infant platform. A radiant heater is located above the infant platform at one end thereof. A canopy covers the infant platform and is movable between a closed position where the infant is enclosed and an open position providing access to the infant and/or the radiant heater can be energized to direct infrared energy toward the infant platform. The canopy is constructed of two sections, one of which is pivotally affixed with respect to the infant platform at or proximate the one end and the other section is movable relative the one section to create an open space so that when the canopy is pivoted to its open position past the radiant heater, the radiant heater is aligned with respect to the open space to allow the radiant energy to reach the infant platform without passing through the canopy.

摘要： An infant care apparatus is provided that has easily removable side doors. The doors have hinges with bores and pie shaped openings extending outwardly from the bores. A bar secures the doors to the infant care apparatus and that bar has a plurality of grooves that readily pass through the pie shaped openings. The diameter of the bar is such as to snugly fit within the bore and be held therein. The bar is movable with respect to the door hinges so that the bar can be moved from one position where the bar is fitted within the bores to sturdily affix the door to the infant apparatus and to another position where the grooves are aligned with the bores and where the door can be detached and reattached by sliding the grooves through the pie shaped openings. In the preferred embodiment, the bar is spring biased along its axis so that it can be moved in either direction along its axis to allow the door to be removed and reattached.

A vent is also provided in the heater housing that ventilates the housing when the heater is in its upper position and closes to confine the housing when the heater is in its lower position. A mechanism automatically closes the vent when the heater moves from its upper position to its lower position and opens the vent when the heater moves from its lower position to its upper position.

摘要： An infant care apparatus that has a canopy that can be moved vertically with respect to an infant platform on which the infant is positioned. The canopy contains a radiant heater that can be moved from a lower position enclosing the infant in an infant compartment to an upper position where the infant compartment is open and the radiant heater provides radiant energy to warm the infant. When the canopy is in its lower position there is a convective heating system that provides a forced flow of heated air to the infant compartment to heat the infant. The convective heating system includes a heater, a fan and various ducting and passageways in the infant platform that conduct the heated air to the infant compartment and receive air from that compartment for re-circulation. A control system is used to operate both the convective heating system and the radiant heater and is operable to activate the radiant heater and disable the convective heating system when the canopy is in its upper position and, conversely, to activate the convective heating system and disable the radiant heater when the canopy is in its lower position. In the preferred embodiment, when the convective heating system is disabled, the control system has a separate control of the heater and the fan of the convective heating system and can inactivate the convective heating system by shutting off the fan while retaining the heater energized at a relative low setting of heat output, thus the heater can keep the various ducting and passageway surfaces warm and improve the warm up time that the convective heating system takes to warm up the infant compartment with heated forced air when the canopy is returned to is lower position and the convective heating system again activated.
