    • Disclosed is a method for performing a handoff from an async base station to a sync base station when a mobile station with async and sync demodulation modules travels from a present cell of the async base station to a cell of the sync base station, the method including the steps of: the mobile station driving the sync demodulation module for a given idle sleep time to acquire and maintain the timing of the sync base station, during an operation in the cell of the async base station; during the handoff, the mobile station measuring the strengths of pilot signals from the adjacent sync base stations based on the acquired timing, and sending the measurement results to the async base station; the mobile station receiving from the async base station information necessary to establish a traffic channel with the sync channel; and the mobile station performing handoff to the sync base station according to the information necessary to establish the traffic channel.

    • An apparatus, method, and system for providing a broadcasting service in a Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) system with a Single Frequency Network (SFN). Networks of shadow and non-shadow regions can be distinguished in the digital broadcasting system. A conditional access system can be used in the shadow region. A terminal can select a service network. A broadcasting providing server encrypts broadcasting service data, generates private and public keys into which predetermined encryption keys are divided to decrypt the encrypted broadcasting service data, sets at least one broadcasting transmitter for transmitting the private key and/or at least one broadcasting transmitter for transmitting the public key, and provides the encryption keys along with the encrypted broadcasting service data. Broadcasting transmitters transmit the encrypted broadcasting service data received from the broadcasting providing server and the private key using the SFN. At least one of the broadcasting transmitters further transmits the public key.

    • An apparatus and method for supplying information so that power consumption in a digital broadcast receiving terminal can be reduced and a user can use an appropriate antenna depending on a situation. The digital broadcast receiving terminal includes an external antenna detachably assembled with the outside of the terminal a switch unit for selecting any one among the internal antennas and the external antenna, and a signal-receiving condition sensing unit capable of sensing the signal-receiving condition of the internal antennas and the external antenna. If it is impossible to receive the digital broadcast signal by using the internal antennas, the external antenna is used. If the external antenna is mounted, power is supplied only to an RF unit connected to the external antenna and the power supply to the remaining RF unit is cut off, reducing power consumption.

    • An apparatus and method for enabling a user to view a multimedia broadcasting, especially for processing a multimedia audio signal when a voice call is requested during the multimedia broadcasting. In the mobile terminal, an RF module converts a received RF signal for a voice call to a coded signal. An audio processor converts the coded signal to an electrical voice signal and outputs it through a speaker. A demultiplexer receives a digital multimedia signal and separates it into an audio signal and a video signal. A decoder decodes the audio and video signals and provides the decoded audio signal to the speaker and the decoded video signal to a display. A controller discontinues decoding the audio signal and outputs the voice signal from the audio processor through the speaker, if a voice call request is generated during receiving of the digital multimedia signal.
