    • The timing apparatus includes timer motor means having a rotatable output shaft rotatable through a revolution in a prescribed period of time, switching means adapted to be alternately switched between at least two discrete positions for respectively operating corresponding electrical output devices, indicating means operatively connected to the output shaft for movement in unison with the output shaft and for selective independent movement with respect to the output shaft in response to manual adjustment for adjustably setting the times at which the switching means will be operated to effect such switching between the electrical output devices, and actuating means operatively connected to the switching means and adapted for periodic movement between opposed first and second positions in response to displacement of the indicating means. Each of the motor means, switching means and actuating means are supported by a supporting member and the output shaft of the motor means extends through the supporting member. The timing apparatus, further includes, biasing means interconnecting said switching means and said actuating means for resiliently snapping and maintaning the switching means in respective discrete positions.

    • An indicator housing has a window in it and an aperature for passing a gearshift lever through it. There is a light guide having indicia on it which are viewable in the window, an indicating arm, and a metal tape closing the aperature in the housing, connecting the indicating arm to the gearshift lever, and supporting the indicating arm for movement along a first axis parallel to the light guide over a range that permits it to be visually aligned in the window with the indicia to indicate the lever position. The tape has two openings in it along an edge and the indicating arm has two pins. The housing includes a body portion and a cover portion. When the cover is secured to the body, the arm is trapped between the cover and tape in a direction perpendicular to the first axis, with the pins in the openings, thereby securing the arm to the tape.

    • Apparatus for selectively blocking passage of lipids in a liquid flow path. A baffle interposed in the liquid flow path is of nonpolar material and is arranged to permit liquid flow therethrough with contact of said liquid with the nonpolar material of the baffle for removing lipids from the flow. In one embodiment, the baffle is interposed between the wound drain connection and vacuum connection in a drain reservoir and protects the hydrophobic filter which is at the end of the vacuum passage communicating with the interior of the drain reservoir bottle. The baffle enables use of a nonpolar material for the hydrophobic filter and avoids coating and thereby clogging of the hydrophobic filter by lipids in the liquid drained from a wound.

    • Chuck for a gear reduction surgical rotary driver. There is provided for a controlled speed surgical driver an automatically releasable chuck for grasping tools of a very small diameter such as the wire used in bone pinning. In a driver having a conventional high-speed drive motor and speed reduction means, there is provided a frustro conical ramp, of generally circular cross section, and diverging outwardly toward the working end of the tool. A wire carrier is arranged for longitudinal sliding movement in the end of said tool and having a portion thereof projecting beyond said tool. Said wire carrier receives the wire centrally therethrough and carries three gripping devices which act between the wire and said ramp. Two of said gripping devices are preferably of ball shape and the third thereof is of generally disk shape with a rounded periphery whereby to project between said balls and engage a wire or other tool of small diameter. Resilient means push said carrier against said ramp and same is manually retractable therefrom. Thus, by manually retracting the carrier, the wire may be inserted, will be normally held firmly in place by said balls and disk and may be again removed by manually retracting said carrier against said resilient means.
