    • A dial pulse detector in a paging system for rendering a paging service for a subscriber who uses a mechanical telephone includes a delay correlativity calculator for receiving dial pulses generated by predetermined pre-test dialing digits dialed by the subscriber, calculating the correlativity between the delayed dial pulse and undelayed dial pulse to sample a reference signal of the dial pulse. An energy correlativity calculator calculates the energy correlativity between the sampled reference signal and the successively received dial pulse to examine the validity of the reference signal. A dial pulse verifier operates according to recognition of the validity of the reference signal by the energy correlativity calculator and checks input number of times and input time of the dial pulse so as to verify whether the dial pulse corresponds to the pre-test dialing digits.

    • A method for generating a complex quasi-orthogonal code for channel spreading in a CDMA communication system is disclosed. The method comprises generating an M-sequence having a length N and a specific sequence having a good full correlation property with the M-sequence; generating a predetermined number of other specific sequences by circularly shifting said specific sequence; generating a predetermined number of other M-sequences by circularly shifting said M-sequence, and column permutating the circularly shifted specific sequences in a same method as a column permutation method for converting the generated M-sequences to Walsh orthogonal codes to generate candidate masks; generating quasi-orthogonal code representatives by operating the candidate masks and the Walsh orthogonal codes having the same length as the mask candidates; and selecting quasi-orthogonal code candidates satisfying a partial correlation between the Walsh orthogonal codes out of the generated quasi-orthogonal code representatives and a partial correlation between different quasi-orthogonal codes, and selecting masks pertinent to generating the selected quasi-orthogonal codes.

    • Devices and methods are provided for determining an initial transmission power for a forward link channel transmitter of a base station in a mobile communications system. A preferred method includes the steps of measuring, at a mobile station, the strength of a specified forward link channel signal received from the base station and sending information indicative of the strength of the specified forward link channel signal to the base station; and determining, at the base station, the initial transmission power for the specified forward link channel signal according to the information received from the mobile station and using the determined transmission power for controlling an initial transmission power for an other forward link channel.

    • A method for controlling the transmission power of the reverse common channel for a mobile station in a CDMA communication system. In the method, the mobile station transmits a preamble signal at predetermined periods with increasing transmission power. Upon receipt of an acknowledge signal from a base station, the mobile station accesses the reverse common channel. In order to avoid multiple mobile stations from simultaneously generating increasingly powerful and interfering transmissions, the method generates two transmission power control signals: one based on the measured strength of a signal received from the base station and the other based on an accumulated value of power control commands transmitted by the base station. These two signals are accumulated and used to control the preamble signal.
