The waveform includes a voltage which corresponds to a difference between a voltage applied to the scan electrode and a voltage applied to the sustain electrode in the general driving waveform. As a result, a board for driving the sustain electrode is eliminated, and a combined board is realized.

摘要： In an energy recovery circuit of a plasma display panel, after storing energy in the inductor, the panel capacitor is charged by using a resonance and the stored energy. A first time period during which energy is stored in the inductor before discharging the panel capacitor is longer than a second time period during which energy is stored in the inductor before charging the panel capacitor, so that a voltage higher than half of the sustain-discharge voltage is charged to the energy recovery capacitor. In addition, the first time period of the case in which the load ratio is low is shorter than the first time period of the case in which the load ratio is high, so that the thermal stress applied to the energy recovery circuit may be reduced.

摘要： A liquid crystal display (“LCD”) includes forming only a λ/4 plate between a polarizer and a display panel and setting a direction of an absorption axis of the polarizer and a slow axis of the λ/4 plate, so that the LCD can have a smaller thickness and its fabrication cost can be reduced while having better or the same characteristics than an LCD using both λ/2 and λ/4 plates. In addition, in an ECB mode backlit LCD, transmittance, contrast ratio, and viewing angles can be enhanced by attaching both the λ/4 or λ/2 plate and allowing the absorption axis of the polarizer and the slow axis of the λ/4 and λ/2 plates to have predetermined angle relationships.
