    • The invention relates to a method for establishing a push-to-talk-(Ptt) communication link between two Ptt devices (1,2), in which the data of different types, such as voice data (Sp), audio data (A), video data (V) etc., is transmitted between the Ptt devices (1,2). The first Ptt device (I) transmits a Ptt link request, and subsequently a communication link is established for at least one selection of said different types of data via a communication channel (F1, NF) according to a communication protocol. According to the invention, the Ptt link request contains priority information which enables the data types to be allocated a transmission priority, and the communication protocol only authorises the communication channel (F1, NF) to be established if the second Ptt-device (2) is available for the data type or for the data types having the highest transmission priority. The transmission of one data type, which has a lower transmission priority, by means of said communication channel (FI, NF) is only authorised if the second Ptt-device (2) is available for said data type, and the second Ptt-device (2) is also available for all data types with a higher transmission priority.

    • Techniques for managing multiple ICS sessions in an IMS network are described. In one method, a MSC server detects that a user terminal has been transferred from a first access network to a second access network and, in response, sends a message to an SCC AS, the message indicating transfer of the user terminal. The MSC server receives, in response, one or more requests for MSC server-assisted mid-call feature services for the user terminal, and assigns transaction identifiers to one or more sessions held for the user terminal or to one or more conference participants corresponding to the user terminal. Corresponding techniques carried out at an SCC AS are also described.

    • A method of enabling the management of handovers of voice calls from a Packet Switched, PS, access to a Circuit Switched, CS, access where the voice calls are established using an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network. The method comprises performing a first IMS registration of a user via said PS access including setting for the user in a Home Subscriber Server, HSS, of the user's home network, an identifier of a first access transfer control function, which access transfer control function is responsible for anchoring user media sessions in an access transfer gateway of a serving network, and notifying a mobility function within said service network of the set identifier. A second or further IMS registration of the same user is then performed via said PS access, it being determined that said first IMS registration exists. As a consequence, the setting of an identifier of a second or further access transfer control function in the HSS for the user is prevented, while either the setting of the identifier of the first access transfer control function is maintained, or is replaced with an identifier of a service centralization and continuity application server. The mobility function is notified of any change to the set identifier. In the event of a requirement to handover an ongoing voice call associated with said second or further IMS registration from said PS to said CS access, the identifier currently set in the HSS and identified to the mobility function is used to manage the handover.

Upon receipt of a message requesting IMS registration of a user equipment using the information to determine the IMS Service Continuity features that may be available to the user equipment, and, for any IMS Service Continuity features that may be available, including an indication that the IMS Service Continuity feature may be available in the message, and forwarding the message towards a Service Centralization and Continuity Application Server.

    • A method of enabling the management of handovers of voice calls from a Packet Switched, PS, access to a Circuit Switched, CS, access where the voice calls are established using an IP Multimedia Subsystem, IMS, network. The method comprises performing a first IMS registration of a user via said PS access including setting for the user in a Home Subscriber Server, HSS, of the user's home network, an identifier of a first access transfer control function, which access transfer control function is responsible for anchoring user media sessions in an access transfer gateway of a serving network, and notifying a mobility function within said service network of the set identifier. A second or further IMS registration of the same user is then performed via said PS access, it being determined that said first IMS registration exists. As a consequence, the setting of an identifier of a second or further access transfer control function in the HSS for the user is prevented, whilst either the setting of the identifier of the first access transfer control function is maintained, or is replaced with an identifier of a service centralisation and continuity application server. The mobility function is notified of any change to the set identifier. In the event of a requirement to handover an ongoing voice call associated with said second or further IMS registration from said PS to said CS access, the identifier currently set in the HSS and identified to the mobility function is used to manage the handover.

    • A first communications device communicates with a second communications device by means of a communications network. The first communications device receives information from the communications network, wherein the information comprises a network load value and a mean delay time value. The first communications device ascertains whether the network load value satisfies a predetermined relationship with respect to a threshold load value and if the predetermined relationship is satisfied then it communicates a data packet over the network at a designated time that is ascertained by ascertaining one of a number of different wait time values, wherein the ascertained wait time value has a mathematical expectation equal to the mean delay time value. The first communication device then waits an amount of time corresponding to the ascertained wait time, without attempting to communicate the data packet over the communications network during the time in which the first communications device is waiting.
