    • An image display apparatus capable of displaying an image signal of an unknown type. Characteristics of an input image signal are examined and, based on the examined characteristics, an attempt is made to identify the input signal as one of a known type. When the input signal can be identified as one of a known type, the signal is converted into a form suitable for display based on retrieved parameters corresponding to the signal's type. When the input signal can not be identified as one of a known type, the number of vertical lines in the signal is multiplied by a predetermined constant and the resulting product is used to convert the signal into a form suitable for display.

    • In order to remove high-frequency components contained in video signals and high-frequency components occurring in a processing stage of the video signals, a method of filtering the video signals has a problem that it has a strong side reaction that sharpness is greatly deteriorated and it is liable to suffer an effect of dispersion of elements when the filter comprises an analog circuit, and thus the problem of the present invention to be solved is to effectively remove the high-frequency components. In the liquid crystal driving device of the present invention, a timing circuit 4 for generating a sampling pulse is constructed by an PLL circuit 41, a phase shifter 47 for periodically shifting the clock phase to vary the sampling phase and periodically varying the phase relationship between signals and pixels, and input means for alternating signals which comprise periodical waveform and modulated by a pulse wave every line or every field, the fixed pixels being restructured by periodically varying the phase relationship between the signals and the pixels, thereby bringing a visual filtering effect.

    • A dynamic convergence device in a color cathode-ray tube has two pairs of confronting high- and low-voltage electrode plates disposed in a color cathode-ray tube bulb and arranged such that a central electron beam will pass between the high-voltage electrode plates and side electron beams will pass between the high-voltage electrode plates and the low-voltage electrode plates. A first parallel-connected circuit is composed of a first resistor and a first diode which are connected between the low-voltage electrode plates and a high DC voltage source. A convergence voltage source generates a convergence voltage which is composed of a vertical parabolic wave voltage added to a modulated voltage in horizontal blanking intervals thereof which is produced by amplitude-modulating a horizontal parabolic wave with a vertical parabolic wave. A first capacitor is connected between the convergence voltage source and the low-voltage electrode plates or the high-voltage electrode plates, and a second capacitor is connected between the low-voltage electrode plates or the high-voltage electrode plates and ground.

    • A parallel processor system comprises a main storage, a processor array control apparatus, a control processor which requests the processor array control apparatus to execute the processing in accordance with a procedure start instruction, and a plurality of processor elements each containing a local memory. In response to a designation from the control processor, the processor array control apparatus transfers the program from the main storage to the local memories in all of the processor elements before they are driven. The processor array control apparatus then controls the conditions of the processor elements and drives those processor elements which are capable of processing the procedure in accordance with the procedure start instruction from the control processor.
