摘要： A hardware-based security module is used to protect an electronic device, especially a portable electronic device. The security module may determine either via timeout of a watchdog timer or via an explicit message to encrypt selected data on the electronic device. In addition, the electronic device may enter a limited function mode that only allows display of simplistic messages and supports network traffic with a recovery service. The recovery service may be able to use the network traffic to locate the electronic device. The security module may include a secure memory, a cryptographic function, a timer, and support for direct display of data on a monitor.

摘要： A security module may be used to verify integrity of an executable program and may also be used to verify execution of the executable program on a computer. The security module may directly read a computer memory by asserting bus master control of a system bus. The executable program may be directly verified by calculating a hash or may be indirectly verified by an intermediate program that calculates the hash and passes it to the security module. To verify operation, the executable program may cause an interrupt to be generated when the executable program is in a known state. An interrupt service routine may trigger the security module to read registers in the computer processor via a debug port. If either the verification of the executable program fails or the register values are inconsistent with operation of the executable program, the security module may interrupt operation of the computer.

摘要： In order to provide a more efficient persistent storage device, one or more long-term storage media are included along with a non-volatile memory. In one embodiment, one portion of the non-volatile memory is used as a write buffer and a read cache for writes and reads to the long-term storage media. Interfaces are provided for controlling the use of the non-volatile memory as a write buffer and a read cache. Additionally, a portion of the non-volatile memory is used to provide a direct mapping for specified sectors of the long-term storage media. Descriptive data regarding the persistent storage device is stored in another portion of the non-volatile memory.

Each security bean may be given a cryptographic key or keys for use in authenticating communication with the master security device. Each security bean may be coupled to an associated component and may have the ability to disable that associated component. In one embodiment, security bean has an analog switch that may be configured to block or attenuate a critical signal used by the associated component. The security bean may start up in the disable mode and respond to a verified signal from the master security device to enable its corresponding component.

摘要： The claimed subject matter relates to architectures that can provide rich features associated with information-based collaborative searches by leveraging a multi-touch surface computing-based display. In particular, a first architecture can include a multi-touch surface configured to support interactivity with multiple collocated users simultaneously. Based upon such interaction, the first architecture can transmit to a search engine a multiuser surface identifier and a set of search terms input by collocated users that share a collaborative task. In response, the architecture can receive a set of search results from a second architecture, and present those results to the multi-touch surface in a variety of ways. The second architecture can relate to a search engine that can process the search terms to generate corresponding search results and also process information associated with the multiuser surface identifier.

摘要： Providing for improved transactioning for Flash memory is described herein. By way of example, transactioning operations associated with abstract data structures can be bundled into a common layer of a Flash management protocol stack, to reduce transaction redundancy at abstracted layers. In some aspects, the common layer can be a block level layer providing relatively direct access to low level Flash. Thus, a file system or database application, operating at a higher, abstracted layer of the Flash management protocol stack, can offload transactioning operations to a block level process that has access to underlying Flash memory. As a result, increased efficiency, throughput, and added flexibility can be achieved for storage system transactioning.

The displays may be, for example, separate LCD panels that are placed in close proximity to one another so as to give the appearance of a single, large display. At least two of the displays may be treated by a computer connected to the monitor as a single display. A display controller divides a single frame of information that is provided by a display adapter of the computer into display information for multiple displays. By using the multiple display controller, the multiple display monitor may have more displays or panels than the number of cables linking the monitor to a computer. The special display controller also does not require a graphics card for each display. A three panel or display monitor is provided in which a central, centered work area display is framed by two side panels or displays.
