    • An apparatus that moves a jumping element. The apparatus includes a motorized hub that is attached to a housing. The hub can rotate a jumping element, such as a jump rope, about a horizontal axis and/or a vertical axis. The hub is connected to a motor that is controlled by a timer. A player can select a time interval that establishes the activation time of the motor. The apparatus includes an indicator that may provide an indication of the time interval. The indicator may be an LED that indicates the numerical value of the time interval. The apparatus may also have an indicator that provides an indication of when the motor is to be activated, so that the player can be in position when the hub begins to rotate the rope.

    • There is disclosed a football having an end appendage comprising at least one long, narrow strip of a flexible sheet material, e.g., cloth or flexible plastic, which functions as a tail when the ball is thrown or kicked and which provides directional stability for the football while in flight. When multiple strips are used which are formed of a rigidly flexible sheet such as MYLAR, the appendage also functions as a sound generator. When the football is thrown in a normal manner, the tail extends backwards, providing a slight drag to cause the back tip of the ball to align itself with the front tip, thereby resulting in the straight and accurate flight of the ball. The appendage can be fixedly or removably attached to the football, and for this purpose, can be attached with attachment tabs formed of hook and loop materials, commonly known as VELCRO.Also disclosed is a method for playing a football game, between a plurality of first players and a plurality of second players comprising the steps of:a) initiating a play wherein one of the first players holds a football that has a detachable tail;b) running toward a goal by the first player with said football;c) pursuing the first player with said football by at least one second player;d) detaching said tail from said football by a second player, wherein said detachment of said tail is indicative of a tackle and termination of the play; and,e) repeating steps (a)-(d) until a first player with said football crosses the goal and scores.

    • An action game whereby the players throw a ball at a plurality of disks so that one of the disks becomes attached to the ball. The ball and disks are covered with hook and loop material, wherein the disks will become attached to the ball when the ball comes into contact with a disk. A variety of games can be played with the game set of the present invention. For example, the disks can all be placed in an area of a playing surface. Each player throws the ball at the disks, trying to get a disk to stick to the ball. The ball is bounced off of the playing surface and caught by the opposing player. If a disk sticks to the ball, the opposing player must keep the disk. When all of the disks have been removed from the playing surface, the player with the least amount of disks wins the game.

    • An outdoor game for a plurality of players who on a novel game mat having a flat playing surface which bears a plurality of position-identifying indicia. The mat also has a water distributor and a plurality of water spray orifices which are located at preselected positions on the surface of the game mat and connected to the water distributor whereby application of water under pressure to the water distributor forms a plurality of vertical water sprays about the playing surface. In the game, players call out particular commands to each other which are spontaneous or can be selected from randomly stacked game cards and which require the responding player to touch the location of the particular indicium on the mat, and to remain in contact with all previously identified indicia during the remainder of the play. The objective of the play is to disqualify players by causing an opposing player to become so tangled up as to fall, or to render performance of a command without falling impossible. During the play, the numerous orifices in the surface of the mat create vertical fountains of water which soak the players and increase the difficulty of play by imparting a slippery or slick condition to the playing surface.

    • There is disclosed a power unit for twirling a jump rope about a substantially horizontal axis, as in conventional rope jumping, or about a vertical axis to provide an entirely new variation of the game. The power unit includes a stand with a vertical standard which supports a motorized drive with an output shaft on which is mounted a crank element. One end of a jump rope is attached to the crank element, which twirls the jump rope. The opposite end of the jump rope is secured to a stationary support, e.g., fence post, side of a building, etc. The power unit can also be removed from the vertical standard and seated in a recess in the base of the stand with the drive shaft vertically oriented, whereby the crank element is rotationally driven about a vertical axis. A short rope is secured to the crank element and a weighted element such as a foam plastic ball is secured to its free end. The players jump the rope as it swung around in a horizontal arc of rotation, thereby providing a new variation of the game.
