    • An implant system comprises a fastener including a proximal portion including an inner surface that defines a first cavity that defines a first axis and a distal portion configured for penetrating tissue and defining a longitudinal axis disposed transverse to the first axis. A connector extends between a first end and a second end configured for disposal in the first cavity. A receiver is attachable to the first end and includes an implant cavity defining a second axis. The implant cavity is rotatable about a third axis disposed transverse to the second axis such that an implant disposed in the implant cavity and lateral to the first end is rotatable in a first plane relative to the first end in a configuration for selective fixation with the first end. Methods of use are disclosed.

    • An implant reducer comprises a first arm including a first member and a second member. The second member includes an inner surface that defines a first implant engaging portion. A second arm includes a first member and a second member. The second member of the second arm includes a connector and a second implant engaging portion. The first members are connected and the connector is movably disposed in a longitudinal cavity. The first members are relatively rotatable to move the arms between a first configuration, a second configuration such that the first implant engaging portion is disposed adjacent the second implant engaging portion and a third configuration such that the connector translates relative to the inner surface and the second implant engaging portion translates relative to the first implant engaging portion. Methods of use are disclosed.

    • An apparatus for connecting an implant with a rod comprises a body, a collet, an annular ring member, a washer, and a nut. The body defines a first channel to receive the rod and a second channel extending through the body. The collet is positionable in the second channel and defines an aperture for receipt of the implant. The ring member includes a gap and defines an aperture for receipt of the collet. The washer is positionable adjacent the second channel and is configured to translate along the body to allow pivoting of the collet relative to the body. The nut is operable to connect with the collet to move the collet within the second channel. Movement of the collet is operable to expand the ring member and contract the collet around the implant to secure the implant at a desired position.

    • A connector assembly includes a coupling body for securing an elongate member to an implant engaged to the spinal column. The elongate member is offset to one side of and transversely oriented to the implant. The coupling body includes a first passage for receiving the implant and a second passage for receiving the elongate member and a clamping member positioned about the elongate member. The coupling assembly also includes an engaging member that engages the coupling body and contacts the clamping member to clampingly engage the elongate member with the clamping member while manipulating the coupling body positioned about the implant to engage the coupling body to the implant.

    • An apparatus for use in orthopedic distraction or compression is disclosed. In the illustrated embodiments, two arms are provided that are connected by a rod or bar with a mechanism that enables the arms to be brought toward or away from each other. At the end of each arm, an assembly for connecting to a bone implant is provided. The assemblies are pivotable with respect to the arms, and allow some rotational motion between parts of the assembly so as to accommodate different positions of the bone implants. Once the assemblies are appropriately positioned, connected and locked to the bone implants, the mechanism can be operated to move the arms together in compression or apart in distraction.

    • A connector apparatus for linking spinal rods comprises a connector body having a C-shaped engagement portion contiguous a closed engagement portion. The engagement portions each include an opening to receive a rod, each opening including an inner contact surface to engage the rod. Additionally, each engagement portion includes a through-hole to receive a screw, the through-holes being aligned substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the connector body. The through-hole and screw corresponding to the C-shaped engagement portion are offset from the corresponding rod when the rod is positioned in the corresponding opening. Additionally, the screws are advanced through the through-holes to urge the rods against the inner contact surfaces to engage the connector body to the rods. The connector apparatus creates a low profile, top tightening fixation system, providing a stable, rigid transverse connection between adjacent spinal rods.
