    • A video image capturing and displaying method for a web camera is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: capturing a video image consisting of a time series of image frames, at an adaptive frame rate, each image frame comprising a plurality of sequential lines of pixels; compressing the captured video image with one of at least a first compressing mode and a second compressing mode; decompressing the compressed video image corresponding to the compressing mode; storing, in a buffer, the decompressed video image which is not displayed in time; and displaying the video image based on the stored video image and the decompressed video image, wherein the adaptive frame rate in the capturing step is determined according to the display quality of the video image being displayed in the displaying step.

    • The present invention relates to a compress and position apparatus with positioning, orientating functions and providing more uniform pressing force compliantly. The compress and position apparatus comprises a guiding column, a base, a housing, a seat, a annular portion and a pressing plate. The base has a cylinder, a plurality of locating pins and a convex portion. The annular portion has a through hole and a plurality of locating holes. The guiding column and the cylinder are disposed in the housing provided with an opening for the guiding column passing therethrough. The housing is mounted on the base and passed through a through hole of the annular portion and disposed in a cavity of the seat. A plane on the housing abuts a plane on the cavity to prevent the rotation of the housing. The guiding column is combined with the seat. The locating pin is inserted into the locating hole. The pressing plate engages the annular portion. Thus the guiding column is moved up and down by the gas supply device. The convex portion biases the pressing plate to exert force on the substrate.

    • Some embodiments of the invention provide a method that identifies a set of routes for a net that has a set of pins in a region of a design layout. The method initially partitions the region into a number of sub-regions. It then identifies a first set of sub-regions that contains the net's pins. The method next determines whether a storage structure stores a set of routes for the identified first set of sub-regions. If so, the method retrieves the set of routes. If not, the method generates a set of routes. In some embodiments, the method generates a set of routes by first identifying a connection set of sub-regions that when combined with the first set forms a closed set of sub-regions. The closed set of sub-regions does not have any sub-region that is not adjacent to another sub-region in the closed set. The storage structure stores a set of routes for the closed set. For the first set, the method then retrieves the set of routes that are stored for the closed set of sub-regions from the storage structure.

    • A fully automatic speed-reading trainer for which reading speed can be adjusted in a non-step fashion is provided which includes an electric motor designed to drive a relatively large gear, which is one main component of a driving assembly forming a portion of the trainer. Coaxial with the larger gear, on opposite sides thereof, are an eccentric cam and a first pulley. The eccentric cam and pulley are each provided with an axle tube, and each has a coil spring attached thereto, with each coil spring having a free end inserted into respective holes on the larger gear. When the larger gear is rotatably driven in a predetermined direction, one of the springs is tightened about one of the axle tubes, which in turn, dependent upon the rotational direction of the larger gear, drives either the eccentric cam or the first pulley. This driving assembly thereby actuates an advancement assembly, which generates intermittent movement on a pressing board which is driven in a time sequence over predetermined distances to provide viewing of text on pages of a book through a viewing window which is transversely connected to one end of the pressing board. When the driving unit is driven to rotate in a reverse direction, the advancement mechanism quickly retracts to begin a new advancement cycle. The recycling operation is thereby automatically conducted by the trainer.

A pressurized storage compartment stores the fluid as soon as the temperature-responsive material changes density. The storage compartment is connected with a hydraulic motor, and a valve allows fluid passage from the storage compartment to the hydraulic motor. An energy storage component, e.g. a battery, is connected with the hydraulic motor and is charged by the hydraulic motor when the hydraulic fluid passes through the hydraulic motor. Upon passage in the hydraulic motor, the fluid is stored in a further storage compartment and is then sent back to the area of the temperature-responsive material.
